The steering in the Commer allowed for delayed motor-neurone responses. You only thought you were steering, in reality she was doing all the work behind the scenes and all she asked in return was for her pinions to be greased (Mrs).

The late onset of spring has found me in a particularly wistful mood, and I am beginning to miss her far more than I thought I would. All kinds of funny little things remind me of her. The scent of wild honeysuckle rendolent of the many country byways we'd meanadered down on a warm summer's eve. The sprinkling of dried mouse sh*t I found in my garden shed are just like the one's in the sugar bowl in her pantry. I spent many happy hours sat in the back picking them out with a fag dangling from my bottom lip.

A fool, as they say, and his Commer are easily parted.

Well do something about it Zarse you commitment shy fop. This whole thread is about replacing the poor thing, yet here we are years later yet still no replacement, just talk (I don't suppose you work for the government do you?).

Now start taking this serious and find a replacement before I come down there and leave some ancient fusty relic on your driveway for you.

Si (spending a pleasant morning making the casings for the Landy's camper conversion).

Aaahhh - now that's more like it.....Si has, perhaps, provided a concise assessment of the product of the last 149 thread pages, and a clue to how assuage any guilt by shaking you into the right actions to reinstate that "lovin feeling".....

Was there ever a nasty one? The Mighty Maxi is one of my all time favourites. I love the bouncy ride and plywood dash, but mainly the whining whistling transmission noise of the badly-machined drive pinion.

Five doors, five speed gearbox, five seats, five stars!  and five miles between breakdowns

70's motoring heaven!

If this bit of leg and a Maxi doesn't stiffen the winkle of any true red blooded man then you're dead.

Pretty girl, sitting in the usual position awaiting the recover truck......
I jest, as my trusty BMC stallion has never failed to deliver me to those green fields of France. And I don't see why your BL youngster should be any different if serviced properly. More chance of getting to Le Mans in the Maxi than in a Trevor (ducks for cover).
