It's true, like the dumb-as-dogsh*t blonde secretary with whom one can have an longterm affair, I've neglected and put upon the Commer over the years, doing just enough at the right time to ensure loyalty for a little bit longer.

I hate to say it Mr Zarse, but in that one sentence you have just thrown a horribly revealing light on some of my own past personal relationships….    Grin

Did you have a blonde secretary Fran??  Grin

Thank you Marius.
I sense a changing of the tide here, and if I'm right it'll not be long before the villagers are streaming through the streets with their flaming torches and pitchforks held high, baying and barking on their way up the rock strewn slopes to Zarse Towers. Hanging's too good for the b*stard.
H

Thank you H, I think you may be right, and a good thing it might be too, and to Marius too for reminding us of the turncoat's earlier political statement now returning to haunt him.  I shudder to think of the havoc that the Commer may wreak in revenge upon his hapless soul.  Although the earlier eulogy was aimed more at the Commer than him, I may have been a liitle too kind in letting him off the hook.  The only question now is whether or not the changing tide of opinion is sufficient to make the shirker feel guilty or worried enough to reverse his earlier, precipitate decision, albeit it understandable one from one so weak-willed.  And if the villagers don't get him first, then the tide probably will, as he sits Canute-like at the door of Zarse Towers....

After the villagers and/or water have done their worst, I can picture the crime scene now, with the local constabulary in full investigative swing, with the Police Commer standing on mobile HQ duties outside....

Never! No one will ever stop me in my evil alchymist plan to convert the Commer into filthy lucre! For I am a latterday Victor Frankenstein, the necromancer, the one who walks backwards.

What a pleasant surprise to see the mighty Commer as one of the photos for July this morning. Never seen her in the flesh so to speak, will there be a final outing to Silverstone in September?

I think if Andy keeps the Commer much longer it could end up looking like this monstrosity I spotted near Brighton (not surprisingly) last year:

Good will triumph over evil angel.  Stocked to the gunwales with silver bullets, the wolf pack will assemble, circle and then, baying under a full moon, their mission will commence.  Best ye be afeared Mr Z as, without respite, they will hunt you down and drive you to the very ends of the earth and back, before trampling your battered carcass under care-worn crossplies.  You can run but you can't hide Shocked.  Walking backwards will not aid you in the slightest.  They will not return to their suburban garages and nettle patches until their task is complete and they are reunited with their outcast kin.......the start will probably look quite innocent, a bit like this....

That might be one way, but I suspect it might accord more with the ancient rite of hanging, drawing and quartering for the charge of high treason through betrayal of the sovereign......

Ok – I have been giving this topic “Modern Commer Replacement” some thought.

It has read over 40,000 times, has over 124 pages dedicated to it, and over 1800 replies.

Which means we really must like this Commer and we are very interested in past, present and possibly future life? This little camper has been a bit like family to some of the posters on this site.

Now the question, in respect to the latest posts, I think we have missed the point, it is not what the modern Commer replacement is going to be, I mean we really like the little green lady. I thinking the subject should be what is going to be the Modern Andy Zarse replacement going to be.

I mean if he can talk about getting rid of the Commer, I think it’s only fair we have a good discussion on the Modern Andy Zarse replacement.

What do we want from are new and improved Andy to be?

What’s everyone else’s view?

Well, I think he should have a well stocked workshop with space for the old girl to spend winters indoors and preferably be a Doctor, he should be dashing and handsome and live in the wilds of Northumberland.
He must have a love of Scones and tea.
 Any ideas?
