Well, I've been busy in the garden, those potatos won't plant themselves. And it's gone mental at work. It's always like this in the run up to LM, drives me mad.

Still I've simply to prime the clutch master cylinder, grease the trunnions and king pins, a quick clean and polish and then take it to the MOT station where it will sail through the test with flying colours. It always does. Nothing can possibly go wrong. Can it?

PS I'll be posting the resulton page one hundred and THIRTEEN!!!  Shocked

Of course you could always mot it after Le Mans as well, saving you the yearly panic. Oh hold on don't we say that each year as well Grin

I've found another Commer on my travels in Portsmouth, Its a late one on a V plate.
Would have taken pics but the blokes working on it did not look very nice.
It's Spearmint green and White.... Just Like Pacers used to be. (Chewy sweets not the AMC Version)

Bohemian Rhapsody.

Wasn't the AMC Pacer a total death trap for some reason? I always liked it's funky looks though. Bit like the Commer, a potential death trap with funky looks.

Oh and Ian, we don't do MOT's after Le Mans. It's not the done thing old chap.

You'd be thinking of the pinto Andy. A sharp tap in the rump would puncture the fuel tank, while simultaneously jamming the doors shut. Also known as the barbecue that seats 4.

Ford was aware of the design fault, but worked out it would be cheaper to pay for lawsuits than repair the cars - cost-benefit analysis -  a good memo from the time (info drawn from the origonal 1968 memo),

more info go to good old Wiki.

The Pinto scandal also brought that wretched man Ralph Nader to prominence. Apart from being a big-headed c*cks**ker, he also stood for President, splitting the vote and letting GWBush into the Whitehouse. The law of unintended consequence in action... Sad

Nader didn't only have a downer on the Ford Pinto.  His other hated car was the Chevrolet Corvair.

He wrote a book about poor US car design called 'Unsafe at any Speed'  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unsafe_at_Any_Speed
