Most excellent, looking foward to next weeks edition. what I can't understand is why there are so few spectators? Is it because it is a long way out or it is restricted?
It certainly isn't restricted. We just sailed up in a 30 foot motor-home and paid the spectators fee. I asked "where do we go". The reply was "anywhere this side of the start line".
There are two parallel courses (5 mile and 7 mile) with the start lines about 200 yards apart. We parked the motor home between the two start lines and wandered about all day looking at the bikes and cars forming up to run.
As can be seen from my pic above, you can wander about anywhere. I am stood at the start line.
Later, we drove the RV up to the paddock area (huge) which is away to the north of the tracks. Again everyone was most accommodating and happy to chat about anything.
I guess there aren't many spectators because Bonneville really is in the middle of nowhere and land speed racing is somewhat of a minority sport ..... but I love it
In this pic, I am at the start line (mile 0). I luckily avoided barbecuing my gonads.
