It is with great sadness that I have to report that our former Club Arnage and Radio Le Mans pit reporter Janice Minton has finally lost the fight against a long term illness.
Janice worked for us in the CA editorial team in the late 1990's and was pit reporter for Radio Le Mans before that. She won the prize for the best team press officer at Le Mans in one of the years that she was with Nasamax, I think it was 2003. Always a fount of accurate and dependable knowledge, she was a joy to have on our team. My best recollection of her was in her 'helmet spotting'. She kept an up to date record of all driver's helmet colours and designs. 'Janice's list' was a marvellous asset and always a source of 'ooerr' moments when she dashed off to "ask so-and-so driver to show me his helmet".
Jokingly known as 'mummy' or 'auntie Janice' to the CA team, she always had time to come and chat, even when she wasn't working directly with us, and would always be welcoming with tea and cakes in her hospitality unit at Silverstone.
Goodbye Janice, you will always be remembered, especially in the middle week of June each year.

That's sad. Just been reading Paul Trusswells latest blog about the start of Radio Le Mans with Janice. http://trussers.blogspot.co.uk/RIP Janice.

Sad, sad news, had a direct connection there during those Nasamax days - always had the time to talk and make things in such a nice way. She will be missed, and thoughts go out to family and many friends.

How very sad. I remember her being awarded the "special award" in 2003 (?). Simply as a spectator, it was clear why - the one car we REALLY knew the progress of, was the Nassamax car.
RIP

Poor Janice; never met her, listened to her often over the years. She was a rock of RLM for ages, and truly knew her subject.
RIP.

I worked with Janice during her Radio Le Mans years, she was great fun and utterly professional, a rare combination.
What a great shame
RIP Janice

I am very shocked and saddened by this news. Although I haven't heard any news about Janice in the last few years, as I arrive at Le Mans every June and turn on Radio Le Mans, the memories of those early years of her commentary come flooding back. The Radio Le Mans team back in those days were great fun, and changed the Le Mans spectating experience for the better forever. Farewell Janice, in body only, as happily, you will live forever in our minds and thoughts.

Dear Janice. When she was with RLM she could get the entire pit straight grandstands doing Mexican waves in the build up to the start. I first met her when I took up some spare accomodation she'd arranged at the Auberge du Port des Roches in 1997. She was kindness itself and a brilliant organiser. More recently I knew she wasn't well and I hadn't seen her for a few years now. I shall make a trip down to the Auberge and its suberb restaurant and raise a glass or two to her memory.
Rest in peace Janice.

RIP Janice.
I never met her, but she was an integral part of the whole experience for our bunch. My first visit to LM was 1986, and when RLM apeared on the scene it was a revelation. Those early years were the golden years of RLM I reckon, and I still associate RLM with her voice, always cheery and positive. We used to have a great laugh trying to spot her in the old pits from our seats on the concrete ledge above the cars. You'll be missed Janice.

Absolutely devastated. Not heard this news until now and was only thinking of giving her a call a few weeks back Janice truly was like "Auntie Janice" to me and my team in the press room at LM in the years that we did that. Best cup of tea in the pit lane! She will be very much missed. Think Radio LM should have us doing tribute Mexican waves next June.

Janice's funeral is on Monday 26th and her hubby Paul has asked that "any donations in Janice's memory should go to St Nicholas Hospice Care in Bury St Edmunds, who looked after Janice and I so sensitively and caringly". http://www.stnicholashospice.org.uk/donate/single-donation
