what would be your fantasy grid and circuits.loads of moaning about current situation.lets sort it out. a street style circuit around the grounds of a huge brewery would be my starter.

No rules. Build what you want - make it the fastest - the only stipulation being that it must be able to protect the driver when propelled upto 125% of its top speed, and may only have a 100 litre fuel tank.
Then sit back and see what is actually possible.

Ban the bloody diesels, instead of noise restrictions, minimum 100 db needed to get an entry. LMP1 - LMP2 - GT 1 - GT2
Tracks :
12h Sebring (USA) 1000 km Spa (BEL) 1000 km Brands Hatch (UK) 24h Le Mans (FRA) 1000 km Nürburgring (Nordschleife !!) (GER) 1000 km Watkins Glen (USA) 1000 km Potrero de los Funes Circuit (ARG) 1000 km Kyalami (RSA) 1000 km Bathurst (AUS) 1000 km Fuji (JAP) 10h Road Atlanta (USA)
11 tracks, all continents and exciting races. Silverstone and Laguna Seca also deserve a place here, and if you want to go to the Far East, add Abu Dhabi to it.

A full grid of Saleens - pretty much anywhere so long as Le Mans, Donny and Oulton Park were included.

Ooooh, we get to play God.
Ok. We'll start by calling it the World Sportscar Championship.
1. Sebring 12hrs 2. Spa 12hrs 3. Targa Florio 4. Le Mans 24hr 5. Donnington 1000km 6. Nurburgring 1000km 7. Reims 12hr 8. Watkins Glen 1000km 9. Suzuka 1000km 10. Pescara 6hrs (with a huge Italian street party for 24 hours afterwards!)
Technical regs? Ermmm Anything built between 1972 and 1979. Lots of noise, lots of rubber, lots of mechanical grip and primitive aerodynamics.
Drivers must have a personality, drink, smoke and womanise at will and PR people would be shot on sight.
All circuits to sell only beer made in small brewaries in Yorkshire and people in Subarus, Mitsubishis and Nissan Skylines would be made to camp in another country.
That's a good start I think.

How about.. build what you like, but only with the technology available in 1970. No wings. No computers. No diesels. No hybrids. No limits on engine size or power. Covered wheels (no aero louvres) and open cockpit. Daytona 24h - Feb Sebring 12h - March Monza 6h (old circuit) - April Le Mans 24h - June Spa 6h - July Silverstone 6h - August Nurburgring 24h - September Fuji 6h - October Bathurst 6h - November Kyalami 6h - December Ermmm Anything built between 1972 and 1979. Isn't that spec, basically a Daytona Prototype??

With an open cockpit? Unlimited engine size? But I take your point to some extent on the DTP, but I'd put them at more like 1965 tech, pre-monocoque era. 1970 would allow Alloy honeycomb but not carbon fibre. Plus... I'd allow disqualification on the grounds of ugliness. Isn't that spec, basically a Daytona Prototype??

Nordschleife would have to be 12h or 24h as 1000 kms is only 48 (ish) laps. Add Lazy B'stard's comment about "Drivers must have a personality, drink, smoke and womanise at will" and I reckon you've hit on a winner here Oh, and I don't mind the diesels, but make them open cockpit and in a class of their own, stop trying all this equivalency bollox.

I like LB's inclusion of the Targa. One more fantasy circuit, a personal favorite of mine, the old Osterreichring. (most of which actually still exist, just tucked away behind fences, and over-grown with weeds. Some of you would actually enjoy the DP's, individually they're loud & menacing, and a whole field of them makes a ridiculous noise, and the Corvette DP in particular is quite attractive. Fax

open cockpit for protos is great idea.i like the current super cars fat low and sexy bit of a change from 911s.bring back a marcos.i miss my marco moments.corvettes saleens detomaso that vds looks the part.rock and roll drivers porn star brolly dollies.cant agree with only yorkshire beer though.champagne should only be for drivers not fans.all races only to be in summer so series follows the sun.some great circuit mentioned but most chicanes should be removed for spotscar racing.i thought they were put in to slow f1 cars down.imola needs to be in.handcuffs and cameras allowed.fair ground provided at all races.and strippers.fireworks to.hmmm back to drinking.

I agree that the DP Corvette is not as ugly as other DP variants, but comparing the DP version with a real Corvette is like comparing Megan Fox with the girl next door dressed up like Megan Fox.
