Details of Vacancy for Design Engineer - McLaren GT

Title: Design Engineer - McLaren GT

Department: McLaren GT

Job Purpose: We have a fantastic opportunity for talented Design Engineer to join our Design Team based in Woking, Surrey. This role will be working on design and development for GT Race cars. The GT Team is currently based in Coalville Leicestershire, but will relocate to Unit 22, Woking Business Park during the autumn which will be the place of work for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

Successful candidates will be responsible for conceptual and detail design of aspects of a GT car including design work related to monocoque/chassis structures, bodywork, systems, suspension and transmission components.

Knowledge and Experience required:

- Experience of designing jig and tooling components for manufacture and testing of components is required for this position.

- Candidates should have a degree in Mechanical/Aeronautical Engineering or similar qualification with good knowledge of racing car components and systems.

- A high level of proficiency in Catia V5 and excellent knowledge of metallic and composite materials and manufacturing techniques is essential.

- Experience of FEA using Generative Structural Analysis within CATIA is required and having pprevious design experience in a racing environment would be an advantage.

- Candidates must also have a good level of Microsoft Office skills.

- A robust approach to problem solving together with high attention to detail is a must.

- Being able to motivate others, good communication skills, using initiative under pressure and working to tight deadlines are also essential.

I'm guessing Mr. Dennis has not been happy with the results of the MP4-12C that CRS Racing developed.

Hence he's bringing it closer to home ready to be entered into WEC!
