I've spent the best part of August in Utah / Nevada / Idaho / Wyoming.

As I travelled past the Bonneville Salt Flats, and it was Speed Week, it would have been rude not to 'drop by' :-)

Here's a few photos and vids of the racers - http://www.flickr.com/photos/13111644@N00/sets/72157631424099364/show/

Some awesome vehicles, thanks for sharing this, Steve. Just added another entry on my list of things which need to be done somewhen in the future...

Fantastick pics Steve. Is the light really that ethereal, or is it a trick of the camera?

I have to echo Werners sentiment - I have recently been evaluating what other motorspots events I MUST see and Speed Week has just been added to the list.

Wow!

It's been on my list of things to do since I was a Street Machine magazine addict in my early teens. In light of recent events, it's time this dreams were pushed further up the list of priorities.

Fantastic photos Teve.
That silver car (is it a mercury?) looks like the Devil's own personal mode of transport. You'd move out the way sharpish if that came up behind you.
I love it.

Nice !   This one is also on my to do list for a long time.
Date in August isn't that bad either, easy to combine with another race or roadtrip.

Must be great to take pictures, not only at the start but also when cars and bikes are taking their run (if you can get there)

It truly is an amazing, surreal place.  Access is very fan friendly and laid back.  We just drove the RV right to the start line.  The pit area is also open to all.
The colour shots are from my Nikon D300 with generally a wide lens.  The last few shots are from my D200 that has been permanently converted to 720 nm infrared.

Thanks for your comments, it really is a 'must see' place.

Great photos Steve, I know you were looking forward to this trip, glad it lived up to your expectations.  As everyone's mentioned, one of those motorsports "bucket list" trips.
