Churros
« on: August 28, 2012, 09:56:13 pm »
What are Churros called at Le Mans?

You know, those things that look like big chips (fries or frites for our American and continental friends) but are actually doughnut sticks.

My son has being going on about them and when I saw them I realised where I'd seen them before, but just don't remember them being called Churros. ???

I guess you're all going to tell me they're called Churros and make me feel stupid  ::). Maybe its the altzheimers kicking in or just becaue I have never been tempted. ???

If any one has a photo that'll convince me for sure!

They're called churros... and have been for years! I don't know what those hot nuts in caramel are called though. They smell nice but taste like rabbit sh*t.
I wouldn't sit there if I were you, it's still a bit wet.

You kinda answered your own question there Buck.

Churros, donut sticks in a starshape, closest in France is cruller donuts, made with choux pastry, but not the same.

With regard to the 'hot nuts', I think this depends entirely on what area the rabbit comes from. In Guernsey, rabbit meat as well as sh*t tastes different if the rabbit is a cliff dwelling, gorse eater to an inland resident with no gorse available...

Your thought for the day... does Churros taste change in different regions of France?
