So here's a thought that has just popped into my head.
The new Toyota is a hybrid - i.e it uses electricity to supplement it's drive chain etc.
So does this mean, in a case such as the Frank Biela one a few years back, where he missed the pits and couldn't complete the lap on fuel, that the Toyota, could effectively cruise round at low speed on pure electricity??
Am I missing the point?

Nope - The point exactly! There is a 500KJ limit of stored energy between braking points imposed by the ACO so as long as you have enough stored, theoretically you can use the stored electrical power to drive back to the pits. In practice, I think you could only get back from Arnage corner or beyond on the electric Interesting reading here: http://www.racecar-engineering.com/news/toyota-ts030-lmp1-hybrid-revealed/

a source tells me that there's a significant upgrade to the car due before it races at Spa as well, which apparently makes it even more sexy looking....if that's even possible.....
I LOVE this car already!!

Looks good, no brutal teutonic lines there, and the lineage of TS010 to 020 to 030 is clear. Sounds good. Appears to go good too. Brilliant. Hope it is able to keep Audi honest.

Sounds pretty good! I will certainly be following how the development programme goes and what sort of times they are doing relative to other P1 competitors. Will be good to see them back at La Sarthe.

So basically it's a car that jump starts itself. I could do with that for the frogeye on a cold day. Gets the car up to 20mph, into gear, drop the clutch and off you go:laugh:

Sad I know but I follow Wurz on twitter. He describes pulling away on the electric motors from the pit, so your correct it does do that.
I have also read it has motors to both front and rear wheels giving it 4wd for a small amount of time. must be very odd to drive.
