Well I do have a large Plasma HD screen but also priciplals and therefore i will not pay money for something that should be free, and especially if that money is going to a certain Mr murdock, I have not actually attended an F1 race for many years, prefering sportscar and classic races, but do like to see the F1 races live on TV. I am not really bothered about recorded highlights, once i know the result the excitement goes. As for soccer i am more than happy that it is on Sky as it leaves room for Rugby on free channels. I do believe that all sport's fans should try to attend some real sport if possible, the atmosphere is part and parcel of sports and i firmly believe that sport on TV lacks that most vital incredient.

Should be free??

One of the most premium sports in the world?  Seriously?

The only sports which remain free, are the boring ones, that nobody really cares about - Rugby, Horse Racing, even MotoGP to some extent.

The only real surprise, is that it's taken this long for Sky to become involved.

I agree in terms of attending sports events - I do it all the time - so you're preaching to the converted - but I can't get to every football match I want to watch, and I definitely cannot get to every GP I want to - but when second best is all I've got, I'd much rather that was in Full gleaming HD, accompanied by the best commentators, and all of the interactive services which Sky are promising, than being cobbled together by the BBC - and I am therefore prepared to pay for it (as are much of the rest of the population!)

This is part of a wider debate really - far too many people believe that things should be "free" - sorry, but money makes the world go round - a business with money behind them, is going to give a better experience than an overspent, under funded public body.

I'm a season ticket holder at Reading FC (which is my team) and I attend Le-Mans every year (OK OK, this one is debatable - but I will return!) and I spent 15 years going to the British Grand Prix religiously.  As well as having a sky subscription now that I have moved out.

As CLKGTRLM1 says (seriously I should really find out who you are in a sober state!) - yes, I'm an early adopter - and I always want the newer version of everything (although not 3d - that doesn't appeal to me at all) - but actually - this is not early adoption any more.  If you haven't got HD capability these days, you're way behind the times..... Think of it as being like not having a CD player in about 1995 - when everyone just...did.....

Yes Brad,

I've been on here for ages - and seems like I know you all so well Grin Grin Grin Grin - but we have not met.
I've never managed to get to the Club Arnage meeting to show my face (there are normally several dozen reasons why I don't make it!! - I think these come in little green boxes - two doxen per box..........)
And I'm only down the road from you in Oxford.

I PROMISE to try to get to the meeting this year to fess up and show my face Cool

lively debate thats what i like,

Will try to make the CA meet either at the main or the classic this year but what with the ten-tenths meet on saturday and the pit visits each friday plus the social activity on tertre rouge it is hard to find time, 5 days in lemans in june seems to get more hectic each year.

Another problem seems to be looming if you want to watch F1 for free (BBC HD with freesat) is that the James 'the Cock' Allen could be making a return.

Can someone please explain how the Beeb is free when you pay a license fee each year?  True, it's not as much as Sky but free???  I think not.

Your right, its not free, but you have a choice to pay for sky, with the BBC its more of a TV tax.

Ben Edwards will be taking over the Beeb commentary with DC next year, a good choice IMO.

Yes, I agree.  Does this mean JA will do Cravitz's old job again?

Down boy!
In 2010, Enzo was the 3rd most popular name for newborns in the Sarthe!

My cats are called Cooper, Lola, Chevron and Cosworth.  Does that count?

My first born was named after one of Termies cats!

Also hoping to make my first CA meet next year (at the seventh attempt). I'm usually taking a drink induced nap when they happen. Cheesy
