It sounds like Brundle is doing a Mansell and going for an entry at Le Mans with his son Alex.

Greaves motorsport seem like the lucky team, which to be fair is a pretty good choice, good understated team imho.

Wish him and his lad luck.

I've always liked MB - very knowledgeable, and highly underated in my opinion - faster than his career in F1 suggests.

Did some work for Tony Jardine when I was a kid - he called into the place and was a really nice chap as well - especially as I was essentially a gopher/nobody, and could very easily have been overlooked by him - he still took the time to chat to me.

I hope he and his son put up a really good fight, prove their partnership, and then take on the second Toyota in 2013 Smiley

During the BBC coverage of the Abu Dhabi GP he did mention something along the lines of 'getting fit for next year' and I wondered if he was referring to Le Mans. Great news!  Smiley

Better LM racer than F1 in my view.

Martin "I was as fast as Senna in F3" Brundle.
Good, reliable, journeyman driver, the sort of guy you would want to drive for you in a enduro.  Never saw him as top F1 material though.
Thought he would have made a fine Indycar driver in the old CART series had he pursued it, similar to his Daytona co-driver Blundell.

To be fair, he was the closest to Senna's pace in F3 during Senna's championship year.

My abiding memory of that year was how dull F3's were, even the final race I saw at Thruxton was hardly enough to set the pulse racing, and noise, jeez, give me a Audi R10 anytime.

My post seems to have vanished.

I had said that Brundle gave Senna a run for his money in F3, went well in the N/A Tyrell, when everyone else had turbos, but never had a decent break in F1, and whilst quick for Jaguar, some of the ex touring car drivers gave him a run for his money, but he was quicker than Dell Boy Warwick, who had been lucky enough to sit in a F1 turbo Renault

I'd add that I must finish reading "Crashed and Byrned", as Byrne could beat Senna, but had even worse luck finding a drive.  Those were the days.  Byrne won a test drive with McLaren, and of the four tested he was fastest, even after they'd turned the power down on the engine management.  He's upset Ron Dennis, who thought he was an idiot that would crash the car.

His best shot in F1 was 92 when he was team mate to MS in the Benetton, but MS blew him away really. The McLaren Pug could have been the dream ticket, but the engine was a shambles.

Reminds me of Derek Bell in many ways, and there is nothing wrong in that!!

Wonder if Sky will sponsor the car?

Agreed, saw Martin have some terrific drives with the Castrol Cats back in the IMSA GTP days.  Those guys used to rack up some serious transatlantic frequent flyer miles going back & forth between WEC and IMSA rounds.
Martin did have the misfortune of several times being paired with the latest German wunderkind in F1, first Bellof, then Schneider, and finally Schumacher.
