Nordic's post regarding the McLaren boneyard, got me thinking, if you could own any single racing car (model and chassis number) what would it be?  Just some fantasy fun here.
For me, Lotus 72-6 (Peterson's 1973 mount, nine poles, four wins)

Crikey what a question! But given a euro millions there are a couple of candidates.

956 017, New man joest car. May not be the ultimate driving experiance but its historic value is huge.

If i had to choose an f1 then it would be a ferrari 312, I don't think they went into numbers back then, but if ickx drove it I would be happy.

For fun it would have to be 70's 2 litre chevron, I doubt any has any greater value than another, so any B36 would do.

Hmmm as I came into circuit racing relatively late in life,  having been a meat paste sandwich and flask of tea rally spectator,  marshal and bit part driver,  it has to be Tony Pond's MG Metro 6R4 in Classic Computer Vision Livery from the Mid 80's Tongue

Dear Santa,
Can I please have

Porsche GT1 Le-Mans car
Williams FW14b F1 car
Audi Quattro Rally Car (of the Blomquist variety)
And if you're feeling generous, a Silk Cut Jag.....

Thank you Smiley

P.S.  I promise I'll be quieter if I can have these....

The Bugatti Type 35 driven by William Grover Williams, winner of the first Monaco GP (and GP including the French GP when they ran at Le Mans).  My biggest motor racing hero.

With any leftover change I would like the Saleen that was class winner at LM last year.

Thanks very much!

All lovely canidates, good lord what a collection.  Nordic, Porsche 956-117 is close to the top of my list, as is John Wyer GT-40 1075.  How about a Lancia Stratos (in Alitalia colors of course)?
Rhino I'm pretty sure I saw a Senna MP4/4 in that McLaren warehouse.

I cannot believe I forgot may fav ever ca,r a 908, not the stinky French one but the proper German one. Porsche 908/03 (008) still with Targa grime and the drivers sweaty seat.

A Stratos would be nice in my rally collection, alongside a Rothmans RS1800. Given the choice I am strangely drawn to the Escort.

Part of me always fancied a 70's Can-Am car. McLarens are too common so it ether be a Penske Porsche 917 or a Shadow Mk3.

Think i'm drawn a bit to much to the 70's. Huh

Tough one but boils down between a Lola T290 and a long tailed Porsche 908 for me. A 250 SWB would be nice too as you can pop down to the shops in it. If I could have a rally car as well it would be an ex Toivonen Lancia Rally 037 Evo or Rohl's semi-auto quattro S2 from the 85 RAC Rally.

The rally car for me is the ex-Pond Metro 6R4 that came third in the 85 RAC rally.

Come on chaps, get some pics up!

I agree!

I'm fed up googling all these motors, to find out what they are and what they look like.

Especially as I came very very later to motorsport  Roll Eyes
