As part of my debugging of the server problems on Monday, I changed the basename of the cookie the forum uses to keep track of where each user is.

When I was made aware of the problems ("connection timeout" and similar) I changed it back to the original name - however if you still have problems posting, try to delete the cookie - or even better ALL your cookies in your browser, logout and in again .. and it SHOULD work

I don't know what you did, but it worked!  (I couldn't post yesterday and couldn't log out to log back in this morning - for those who don't know what I'm gibbering about as I know it didn't happen to everybody.)

After all of the other problems, I found that something had gone wrong with one of the installed extensions, and a PHP function had gone missing.  I wrote a no-op function to overcome that problem, which seems to have fixed the session-timeout problem.
