Think it's a bit of a mixture, some head back for food and parties, some stay in town.

Disappointing comment as its a chance to see the town and what it has to offer, especially the old town and its history. There are plenty of things going on and people to meet. The Union Jack pub, rue du docteur Leroy, is offering Real Ale on pumps with british pies and pasties available, as well as official ACO t-shirts to buy. The restaurants are very good in the area of the Place de la Republique and there is always new places that have opened up since the previous race of every year. Just because you have done it once, doesn't mean you will find the same places and faces every time. The town lives for this week and it pulls out all the stops to welcome everybody. I challenge you to come to town and see it again!

Right then! I will be in the Union Jack pub on rue du docteur leroy, just off the place de la republique, where the parade goes through. I'll tell you the places you've been missing for the last few years!! Over a pint or two, of course!

Pies and Pasties - you got me.
Is there an opportunity for any "Gentlemen's entertainment" post curry and beer?

Steve, all those years of going to LM and you're telling us you've never stumbled upon the delights of the Relax Club? The ladies who work there possess a very pleasant demeanour. It's a few years since we've visited as there was once a misunderstanding involving The Gimp and it was decided by the management that we should leave forthwith. However, the general idea that you stick Euros, or indeed Monster Munch (but not Pickle Onion flavour), down their knickers and they perform a pleasing dance.

Enjoyed the Driver's Parade last year, though most of the enjoyment was fuelled by Stella Artois  Grin

We got in to a bar on the far side of Place de la Republique at around 4pm, and stayed there until 8pm.  We had to stay as we were penned in by the security barriers!

Took a large number of our own cans in rucksacks & kept topping up our glasses out of site of the bar staff.  Think we only paid for 1 beer all afternoon.

So there's my tip - take your own beer with you  Cool

Been a few times but rather spend my day at the Great British Welcome. Last time I went to the Parade, you could hardly see anything due to the crowds and all three of us had someone try and pick our pockets. Beer prices, as already mentioned, are also extortionate. As for seeing the old town (which is nice) I used to combine it with scrutineering on the Tuesday but seeing as that changed to Sunday and Monday last year, I'll not be doing that either.  Angry Angry
