Looking round the walls of my office and workshop at all the posters from the 50s-90's....... mmmmmm. The new one is pretty rubbish. Why is half of it taken up by a photo of people getting excited by UB40? and where is the Aston? Meh

Is it promoting a rock concert or a motor race? Nope, don't like it!

Yeah - putting an open top Audi on it - although it's known that Audi will come with a Coupe this year - WTF

Let's just hope versions 2 and 3 will be better Why do they persist with the music (sort of) concert theme in the poster, no one is going just for that surely? And it's not going to change the mind of many LM go'ers is it? Oh and since when has the Dunlop bridge been just before a straight section with grandstands either side? and those stands are a mirror image of each other too. I've heard of poetic license, but this takes the biscuit! Still maybe the other versions will show current cars, and more of them....

There seems to be a number of local youngsters who come for the concert. However, that's a feeble excuse for producing such a cr*p poster - for the second year in a row. These images should stand the test of time as the posters of the past did. Can't see these being revived for the Classic of 2050 can you?

It isn't great, but it is a great deal better than last year's abomination.

The point of the posters is to encourage the general public to go to the race. Since we enthusiasts are going anyway, we're out of the equation so far as the ACO marketing department is concerned. Personally I don't much like this year's poster and I prefer Geo Ham, but this isn't the 1950s.

I understand the marketing argument - it was my profession. However, I still think the poster speaks neither to the generation it's aimed at, nor to the enthusiast. But maybe somebody under 25 would care to comment, as clearly that's the audience this is aiming for.

But maybe somebody under 25 would care to comment, as clearly that's the audience this is aiming for. I think you'll find that Patrick Debrot has done his research. He's no idiot, and he does conduct market research. Find someone under 25 and French, who's not an enthusiast, and will comment on this forum? Now you are having a laugh.

On here, maybe not, but the Facebook comments on the ACO page might be interesting.
Not that it really affects me, but the problem last year was that the design was also the basis for the t-shirts (and I bet the enthusiasts buy those) and I, for one, didn't buy one for the first time since I've been going to the race because it was so horrid and said "pop music" not "sports cars" to me. Maybe I was the only one and maybe people like me really don't matter - we're coming anyway, but we don't just spend money on tickets do we? - we buy souvenirs too. I'm not at all sure that Debrot pays enough attention to his core market - it's very easy to ignore the hard core audience and then be surprised when it slowly melts away.
