Hi all,
Here are some pictures of my Berlingo which was trashed by a "maniac"driving a Ford Transit portaloo truck. The flatbed had a 3/4 full bowser on the back when he decided to rear end the back nearside 1/4 of my Berlingo. At the time I was doing 40 - 45 mph when he came steaming off the slip road at Thursley on the A3 into the roadworks just before the tunnel at about 70mph.

Ouch, but look on the bright side, with the compensation you get, you can do LM in luxury in 2011

What a mess. I assume you don't remember it. But some how 70 doesn't sound fast enough to do that much damage. Assuming you were only doing 40 then it would be a 30mph impact and that looks to me like more than 30mph too my untrained eye.
Take it easy Wishy.

Tom,
Don't forget the bowser was 3/4 full ...so the extra momentum when he hit the brakes he couldn't slow it quick enough and he spun me through 360 degrees as well
I was concious through the whole ordeal from start to the medics stabilising me, being cut out of the car even in ICU at the hospital, when they put the drain in to empty my right lung which had 1.2 litres of blood in it.
Barry as far as compensation goes ....that is upto me to decide wether I go for the quickie settlement or leave it open in case there are future comlications due to all the internal organ damage I incurred

Boy - off for a week in France, one post on the forum to say i'm back, straight into the maelstrom of work, and missed this - sorry! Really glad to hear that it has turned out how it has given all the circumstances. Best wishes for a full and speedy recovery, but don't be too quick to make a settlement with something like this until you have recovered and get a solid medical opinion about the possibility of any longer term effects! Now, I don't wish to make light of the event, but are you saying that yo were bashed up the rear by 1.5 tonnes of poo and wee? A nasty thought indeed! Glad to hear that you are on the mend - you seem to have retained a sense of humour. Fingers crossed for yor recovery

Nobby,
Yes it was a Poo truck that hit me ......and even without being covered in the provebial,he still mamaged to get me into deep poo!
As far as my recovery is going.I still have internal bruising which is giving me a large amount if jip,but as each day goes on it is getting easier.Am still not sleeping well but thats life.
One bit of good news yesterday was that the insurance company have now confirmed the |Berlingo is a write off...."really!!!" and that the offer they have made means at the moment I am £400 up on what I paid for it 2 years ago...result.
So I have started browsing for a replacement now.

Would I be right in thinking that the washing machines came to visit you?

Hugh,
The said item in the back was a gas cooker which was on the other side of the car when the accident happened. So I was saved from being crushed by it. The fire service just chucked it into the back once they had extracted me from the back of the car on one of those spinal board thingys prior to me being loaded onto the air ambulance.
The annoying thing was I had picked it up for one of my customers and was giving it to another customer who was on hard times and I could not repair their old one.
