Anyone going to the Nurburgring 24h this weekend ?

I'm there on Thursday for the night practice, drive home again and get back on Saturday for the race untill Sunday.  Didn't book hotel or b&b, will probably sleep in the car (unless I can find something for one night that's no 40 km away from the track).   If you see someone with a camera and lenses full of Le Mans and Daytona stickers, it 'll probably be me  Grin

Have fun Dottore!  Wish I was going...  Any opportunity to see a race at the greatest of all circuits is a good one.

Freakin' cold (this morning hardly 3° celsius), sometimes wet ... but great cars !
Left this morning at 7.30, got back home at 3am, tired as hell but it was worth it ... Saturday and Sunday back to Germany Grin

///M Power ... Lord of the Ring  Grin

To make a long story short : had a great weekend, enjoyed a great race and unique atmosphere, but ...

Compared to Le Mans, it doesn't even come close.  Saturday and Sunday, I just couldn't get the drive or the focus to take pictures or get to some places, queing traffic, low temperatures ... it was all too much at a certain point.  At Le Mans, I don't care ... traffic fed up ? We'll wait; Cold ? Put on another sweater; Rain : so what ?   Camera stayed in the car most of the time, didn't even bother taking it with me just in case something might happen ...    Don't get me wrong, I love this track, even built up a car to drive on it, but it doesn't have the magic of Le Mans, that's something I realised in the past few days.

Conclusion : this was an appetiser, the real race is in 4 weeks ... Bring it on !!!!

Same for me.

The Nurburgring 24hr was an outstanding event for us last year - mainly by virtue of the friends we shared it with - Ridiculous behaviour all round, and the onset of the groups obsession with Jagerbombs.  Last year however, I couldn't do LM (poor planning maybe - but actually a touch of genius - my wedding anniversary will never clash with LM).

This year, we discussed the opportunity of doing both - we really did have a stonking time last year - and assuming that the organisers would ever let us within 300 miles of the place again (which is by no means guaranteed given the state we left the place in last year) then we would happily return.  But for many of us it would have come down to a choice - Nurburgring with its amazing road trip, INCREDIBLE roads approaching the circuit, laid back atmosphere (compared to LM anyway) and fun feeling - or Le-Mans - with all of the above minus the good roads, but plus world class racing, a more extreme atmosphere, and a more mental feel.  For me there was only ever going to be one choice - Le-Mans is the daddy of endurance races - the best teams, the best fans, the best friends, and the most mental atmosphere.  I promised last year that I would never miss it again.  I intend on keeping that promise.

Lemans is the daddy of endurance races as brad says, think if N24 was later in the year it would be alot better IMO tho cant wait to get back to the magical place
