Hi there,
I would be personally interested in what movies you guys have found and watched where "Le Mans" is the primary topic of the movie.
I summarized all movies I bought so far on DVD here: http://baszero.ch/racing/movies/

Please share the movies you have seen in this thread... I would love to hear about some movies I do not know yet...
I also thought about movies I saw on Discovery Channel HD, but those are not yet on the page...

Cheers
baszero

Summary of inputs by you (updated Feb-9th-2010):
In addition to http://baszero.ch/racing/movies/ you would add:

There are the old Team films, like Jaguar at Le Mans 54/5/6/7/8, and Triumph 61/62 - probably not available your side of the water.  Plus the new 1955 documentary, Deadliest Crash

And James Coburns documentary - A fast drive in the country

I was at a motorsports film show on Sunday and the Guest speaker was Hugh Chaimberlain (23 successive Le Mans (or so) as a team manager.
One of the excellent films shown was "Nimrod the mighty warrior" Aston Martin return to le mans 1982.
I don't know if it commercially available but it was good.

Hi Fran,
If only because we were there when they filmed it ;Da
A fine collection containg one I know I have seen many times and  two i have seen atleast once.
Not bad for a Swiss guy. Switzerland being the only country in the world to ban Motorracing and continue to produce some fine drivers and teams.

Thanks a lot to all who have given feedback so far...
Two of the feedback movies I know already but did not find them to buy yet.

So if there are movies that should be on the list I'm glad to hear the titles of those.

So far you would add:
- Nimrod - The mighty warrior: http://ftvdb.bfi.org.uk/sift/title/296513
  by Paul Fisher,
- Michel Vaillant : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michel_Vaillant_%28film%29
features shots of Le Mans 2002, --> ordered
- Jaguar at Le Mans 54/5/6/7/8
- Triumph 61/62
- "A fast drive in the country" by James Coburns: only on VHS? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Fast-Drive-Country-History-Mans/dp/B00008T6TB
- Speed Tribe: http://www.amazon.de/Speed-Tribe/dp/B0000696NK/ref=pd_rhf_p_t_2
  featuring Le Mans 2001
- Licence to Le Mans: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Licence-To-Le-Mans-DVD/dp/B002KQHVW2
Movie about Lord Drayson at Le Mans 2009 --> ordered

I will try to get these, buy them, watch them and then include them in my list!

There are also the two fly on the wall style dvd's about Rollcentre - "Lap of the Gods" and "Chasing the Dream".
Not really movies, but both are great watching if you support the "garagiste" style teams.

You're either at Le Mans, or waiting for Le Mans!

A great insight into the Mclaren F1's first time at Le Mans with some wonderful incar footage of Andy Wallace doing his stuff.

BTW Rick, have you transfered by VHS copy onto DVD yet?

http://www.0-60mag.com/online/?p=16484

Watching it on the link I notice that they have changed the first lap music. On the original it is "Ain't no Brakeman on this train" by John Mayle. A lot better than the Techno crap that has replaced it

Are you referring to the DVDs listed on http://baszero.ch/racing/movies/ ?
The list summarized in the initial post is actually only showing the delta to what I have already covered on my web site.
Thanks for confirming!

How about the Ford Film ' A hard days fight' from the 1969 race. Classic.

I heard there was to be a new big budget hollywood film being made this year with some big stars lined up??
