Other points of note are that the 'new' Lotus team have taken the 13th spot, pushing the Sauber Team out, dispite their sale to a swiss investment company.

They will now rely on all the other teams agreeing to enlarge the grid to 14 teams before they can take part.

Epslilion have also lost out, maybe they should restart the Sportscar program.

Its all bollocks

This is utter crap, this lot is no more Lotus than I am Mexican.  Colin Chapman and Jim Clark must be puking in their graves.
As Nordic said, all bollocks.

No this is genuine Lotus as the BBC refer to it as the  "The Malaysian-funded outfit"  Chapman wouldn't object to that

If they want to pour money into Norfolk, they may be mad, but that's quite normal for Norfolk

With BMW, and perhaps Renault and Toyota out, its a 14 car grid.

Perhaps Brawn will win again

Seriously, of all the British teams that have taken part in F1, Lotus is by far the sacred and BRITISH!  How in the hell can you possibly support a Malaysian funded knock-off using the Lotus name?  Hell while we're at it, maybe a Chinese backed group can bring back the Vanwall team....Jesus H Christ!

If you remember back, there was an outfit called 'Lightspeed' who applied for a position on the F1 grid (and bumped Pro-Drive in the process). They currently race in British F3 and are based (strangely enough) in Norfolk and are British owned. Lightspeed are a major (but silent) shareholder in the new Lotus F1 team, so it's not all Malaysian :-)

Then they should have the self confidence to enter as Lightspeed F1.

I'm sure it's entirely political (read: get more cash from Proton). Remember, th tie-in between Lotus and Proton runs deep too .... Not saying it's right, just that all is not as it seems.

It's a similar situation with Brabham is it not? are the family still contesting the use of the name?

I agree that Lotus should be based in Norfolk & not the other side of the world. that really is just milking the name.
