you wouldnt know it from the papers or the idiot box, but this actually happened back on May (on the third!) and the crew were ALL capable of dealing with it As they did just p....s me off to see the media digging in now ( for reference the aircraft and crew have had another fast taxi event in August, without any further drama)there are several pages of comments here: http://tinyurl.com/l53c5fAnd no, I have nothing to do with any of the protagonists and have never even been to Brunty (YET) And yes I wish we could have had a preserved Victor with spare hours enough to make a "Back to the sky" operaton viable even though the poor old Vulcan is still perilously exposed economically bill

I heard the Pilot talking about about it on 5 Live yesterday. He said his co pilot was handling the power while he was piloting. When he instructed the co pilot to ease off the power, there was no reply. Asking not so politely the second time without any answer, the pilot said that he had to take his hands off the controls to reduce power himself and as he did so, the nose lifted. I don't know if that's true but that's what he said.

One and only time I went to Brunty was when Pilbeam Racing were doing a shakedown of the Dark Dog Team Bucknum MP91 ahead of the 2003 race. Took a couple of shots of this beauty as she sat 'mothballed' (we were just a few hundred yards from all the aircraft). Will dive into the MB archives and try to dig them out..... Back soon!

It is indeed fine line between a fast taxirun that lifts the nosewheel and ends up getting airborne, particularly in a low wing loading, large lift surface, stripped out, low fuelled aircraft....

Found 'em! Apols for quality, took these with my very early Epson digi camera (a huge 1.2 megapixel!!) so quality is poor but still a beautiful piece of engineering
