  • You don't win Le Mans - you outlast it.

Does this mean that the Marathon will now consist of stumbling from pub to pub, being thrown into the street at closing time and then crossing the finish line with a arm full of beer from the off-license and kabobs from an all night Paki diner.

Is Circle lining a new Olympic discipline then ? I'll be prepared to defend the German honour.
I don't care - I'm a racing driver and I'm here to win, not to finish third.

I'd also like to thank all Lononders for kindly agreeing to an increase in their council tax to pay for it all.  ;)

Amazing, The bid team really deserved the result with most being top athletes and sporstman that canvassed the vote. This will really focus a lot of activity for a fantastic event....Ian

<sarcastic mode on> Surely it was the mere presence of David Beckham and Posh in Singapore that swung it? <sarcastic mode off>

Seriously, I agree that the bid team are to be congratulated on this fine result for London and the UK. Much as I hate to admit it I even Blair deserves some kudos from the comments I have heard on various news programmes where IOC members commented on the comittment and sheer persuasiveness (sp?) of the P.M.

Lets hope he can use some of this skill to influence the gathering in Gleneagles to do the right thing. Idealistic I know - be but one can only hope...
