RS2, it is showing as 1 mile from me, send cheque on my way to look.
Bri

Hate to spoil the anticipation of a quick blast in an old classic, but the link defaults to a 1 mile location. Try adding your postcode to the box, then selecting the national search, then see what you get, although this may then need to be refined with a "mexico" addition to the criteria. You may also need to register (free and you only get about one junk mail a year) to search fully.

Brian I think it WILL show as 1 mile if you haven't put in a postcode. It was 1 mile from me too...

The "set of  carlos fandango wheels" reference is from an old advert, the car had giant wheels and wheel arches, drove thru a gateway n ripped em off again!  It might have been Hamlet, but might not..... i daresay Steve Brown can find a still from it given a bit of time!

Thanks Darren

ESCORT MEXICO MK1

A very good example of a genuine 1973 MK1 AVO Registered Escort Mexico. Recently Restored.  The engine block has been bored and honed to 1700cc with a Kent BCF2 Camshaft and runs on twin 45's choke weber carburetters (also have original) a new radiator and battery have recently been fitted.  The rear suspension has spax adjustable gas shock absorbers with a strut brace on the front.  The exhaust system is a free flow scorpion system.  The car has recently been re-sprayed and new carpet fitted, the interior is pretty standard with the front seats re-covered with leatherette.  The car has loads of service history.  If you wish to view please call 07704796248 and this can be arranged.

Buyer to collect.   Please pay by Cash, Postal Order or Bankers Draft

 Kiss Undecided Undecided

Question is - does this mean that the car is, in fact, fantabulous and will be worth that much money?

A free flow scorpion system? New carpet and leatherette though (which I do FULLY understand)

As much as I thought I knew and appreciated voitures in general- I think I have a lot more to learn Undecided

There is no MOT in Jersey - so if the car has no cills, a bent chassis and dodgy seatbelts we will be ok!.

I am still serious and it just needs to be close enough to one of you lot to check it out first however.

Lisa,

Am I correct that you live in France ?

If so then i saw a nice looking yellow Mk 1 Mexico for sale on a garage forecourt whilst on my way down to Le Mans. I can't give any info on the condition or price but it looked pretty nice as i drove past it.

As to the location, this is a tricky one, but i am pretty sure that it was just outside of Rouen. After you exit the motorway for the Le Mans/ Alencon exit, there is a short section about 1/2 mile with a garage on the right. You then turn left near a cafe / bar and this takes you down a sweeping hill onto the N138. Do you know the bit of road that I mean. I am sure that the car was at the front of the forecourt of a car sales place either at the petrol station or a garage next to it , before turning left onto the N138.

I am not sure how you would go about finding out the name and phone number of the place to ring up and find out though !

Around Junction 24 if my map reading is any good.

Hope this helps a little.

I remember that it looked very much like the picture that Steve Brown posted on page 1 because i remember mentioning to my brother in law how nice it looked as we drove past it.

Just a thought, a CA member may have stopped at this fuel station before setting off down the N138, and may well have a fuel receipt with a phone number on it. May be worth asking on the board !
