Right, let's make it clear that I am not in business, just giving people a heads up. A hotel has reopened 2 miles from the circuit and it is very cheap. It doesn't have many rooms (20 in all) and most are doubles, not twins. I saw the owner today and he is not going to make his hotel available through the usual booking agencies since they are taking 25%, so I said I'd put this up on a couple of sites. No food but private parking with electric gate and keypad so secure. All rooms redone and nice showers en suite. Bar opposite which will be doing breakfast. If anyone is interested contact me please. Yes I know most people camp but some prefer the comfort! He's a nice guy - ex world bike champion too so loves cars. Used to own the Formula 1 at arnage. Over to you lot.

Thanks for the sarcasm. if you aren't interested don't bother. I'm not trying to make a buck, just helping out the new owner of the hotel which opened today. I live 3 miles away from the hotel and it is one mile from the Mulsanne straight. All idiots need not apply. I had hoped for a better, more measured reply than this. Please contact me for details if you are really interested. In 12 hours I have already let the hotel for the Classic. If you think that 75 euros a night is dear for a hotel for Le Mans then, well, tough luck. I've been looking elsewhere for people for the Classic in July and only this week was quoted 350 euros a night for a 2 star hotel, four nights booking required, and 8 miles from the circuit. Your choice. Oh, and Neil, Le Mans is about 120 mile SW of Paris if you didn't know.

Lynx, IMO Neil makes a very fair point. Two miles from the main entrance is one thing; two miles south of Mulsanne corner is quite another. Sarcasm?  See above  Sad

Have you ever thought of making a career in tourism?

Nope, I just love cars and car people. I'm retired anyway and have been for 10 years. Money isn't the object, just trying to be helpful.

Clear and of course most welcome, although I think most people here use the campsites. Questions asked were not meant to be sarcastic I think, so do not feel offended, I know for a fact that the guys who did comment meant it in the best way possible, we are afterall all car people.

Maybe so, but completely unnecessary.  Lynx clearly stated that if you were interested to contact him.  With reactions like those posted it is a wonder anybody bothers to be helpful.

 Huh

But how will I know if I'm interested if I don't know where the hotel is? There's details on the parking, security, price and even breakfasting arrangements, but nothing on the precise location. Perhaps people don't want to waste Lynx's time, or even their own, by entering into a correspondence with Lynx if the hotel is not in the appropriate locale?

I'll preface this by saying that I know Lynx is an amazingly helpful and generous person with his time and a huge bonus to the CA Guide team. However, I'm sorry, but I simply didn't see any implied rudeness or sarcasm in the responses; they seemed perfectly reasonable questions to ask.

Yep, no sarcasm intended on my part, just fishing for more info. I've been a hotel user for test weekends for about the past 6 or so years and have stuck with the Ibis chain (except one year in Gilles chateau) but wouldn't mind a change. I wouldn't book anything without knowing something about it though...where, how much and if poss some pics etc.
