My first mode of transportation was a 1956 "sick sea turtle green" Plymouth Plaza with a flat head six and push button transmission.  The driver door used to fly open sometimes (when first taking off) which resulted in surprise and fear for the first time passenger and humor for the driver.

Welcome to the madhouse F-Troop Mom.

Was the Plaza a 'handmedown' or did you go out and buy it?

It was purchased from a little old lady who only drove it on Sundays.  I was a senior in High School and it was 20 years old, which is the age for designation as an antique in the States (cheaper tags).  A fellow classmate rear ended me on the day of graduation and totaled of his car but only put a small dent in the trunk of the Plaza.  We sold it soon after as I had to drive a farther distance to college.

was it one of these? Looks like Christine to me, surprised it didn't rebuild itself and take revenge on your chum who rear ended you.

...on the column.  The turn signal was on the column also which in 1956 was not a factory installation.  It had been owned by a handicaped man, which is why is was a push button transmission.  It had smaller fins....I think these photos might even be the same color as mine?!

Hi 'Mom,

Again, nice looking motor.

Excluding general size etc, etc. The seperate body/chassis construction is far stronger than monocoque but heavier. Much like my 'Sixfire'.
