Thanks to a link found through an archive put up by Mr Lawnmower Man on the lanyards thread, I found the long lost details for KittyKalk software (see below). Ok, it refers to using it on a Psion (remember them??) but does anybody know if this useful bit of kit is still available, it would be very handy for our lot who are all too drunk for five days to keep tabs on who owes what to whom! Or maybe there's an Excel equivalent these days? Any ideas anyone?

Kitty Kalk

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What we have to offer is very much of direct interest/benefit to Le Mans fans and was, in fact, born out of the hassle I had last year in trying to work out who owed who what on the homeward-bound ferry.

It is a piece of software which runs on all Psion handheld computers including the pocket-size Siena. It is also available for laptop computers.

At the start of the trip the user enters the names of all members of the group and how many shares they are responsible for. They also enter a name for their home currency and a foreign currency and an exchange rate. As payments are made, on behalf of the group, the amount paid is entered, together with which currency was used, the paying member and a brief description of what it's for.

At any time (usually at the end of the trip) the software works out who needs to pay who how much, so that each person has paid the correct amount according to the number of shares they have. No one has to make more than 2 payments and the number of receipts by those who have paid a large amount on behalf of the group is minimised. The amounts to be paid are shown in both currencies.

We are selling this for £30 (+p&p and VAT) for those who already have a Psion or for £130 (+p&p and VAT) pre-loaded on to a Psion Siena (The Siena is at cost to us as we do not normally sell hardware)

If you go in a group I'm sure you will see the benefits. If you are interested, contact Jim Parker JimParker@corppcsoft.com

I burnt a bit of Midnight oil last night  so I pleased to announce a trial version of  the "Club Arnage Lolly Leveler" (Call) is ready to try.

It's an Excel spredsheet.  Currently all fields are unlocked so there is great opportunites for you to mess it up.
But if you read the instructions below you should be fine.

First it has some limitations.
Only 6 people are supported.
Only 7 transactions are supported.
Only 2 currencies are supported.

how to use it:-

Sheet one "Balances".
Change "name1", "name2" and so on to the people in your group.
Enter the exchange rate in cell B5 That will alter all of the exchange rates.
Enter the number of shares each personis responsible for.

Don't Change anything else on that page.

Sheet 2 " Outgoings".
Change the names to names of the people under "Paid by"
Note: if you changed name1 one Balances to say "Harry" you don't have to change name1 here to the same it can be any of the names you entered.
Change the Currency sign under currency either € or £.
Allter the amount as required.
Don't Change anything else on that page.

Sheet 3 "Spend"
Look but don't touch  Wink

You should see that as you change names, Currency, and Amounts on "Outgoings"  you should find that Balances adjusts the amounts owed to or by each person.

Ith e amount is Red then the kitty owes that person the money.  If it's Black then that Person owes the Kitty money.

So does it do what you want?

Now if I can get that to work on my ancient Ipaq, I'm sorted. Much better than the note book. Seems to work a treat Tom, good effort.

I still owe Steve Brown a few for sorting last years Classic tickets.... I think. Maybe we need some sort of beer owing amnesty thread type thing?:-D

Sconefinger,

It can be used for anything.  Mowing the lawn (Obviously), Drinking beer (Obviously), Giving you the directions to your tent and so on.

But it works best with money.

The Lastest though not exactly the Greatest version of CAll is now available for download.

I've given it quite a hack-attack this evening.

It now supports 14 people I haven't found a cool way to handle more people yet.
The number of tranastions is now unlimited.  (Well any limit is an Excel limit not a limit I impose.)

There are now only two sheets "Balances" and "Outgoings"

Balances remains unchanged as far as using it goes.
Note however there are now hidden rows and columns.  By all means unhide them if you like but it will make things look a bit awful.

Now the support for unlimited transactions I have to say it's a bit ugly.   (I'm looking to see if there is a better way.)

Always keep a few rows empty at just before the "Total" row.
It will be upto you to add the additional transaction lines.
If you know how to Insert and copy then just keep a few lines free and use them to copy into some newly inserted lines.

If you don't then these are the steps to do it.
Code:
Put the cursor on the 17 of row 17 and hold down the left button and move down to 19 of row 19.
That should highlight three rows.
Let go of the button,  move the cursor back to the 17 of row 17 and right click.
In the popup menu select "Insert Rows".    you should now have 3 more "blank" rows.
rows 17,18,19 have now become 20,21,22.
Highlight row 20,21,22 and rigt click and select "Copy"
Now point at row 17 right click and select "Paste".

If you find that when you key the currency symbol it doesn't display in the centre then the copy and paste didn't work.
So you'll need to redo the copy.

The new version is available in the usual place.  http://lemans.tmdg.co.uk/Call.xls

My next todo is to add some error checking.

Let me know how it goes.

Just a quick hack on the speadsheet this morning when you try to run it you will get a warning about macros.
The maco is to insert row in the Outgoings sheet.

Just run the maco "InsertRowsAndFillFormulas_caller"  I think you have to set your security to Medium for this to work.

Sorry can't give more info right now I have to do work to pay the mortgage.
