Apparently the Alphand C5 caught fire.  2 people injured.  Anybody got any more on this one? Just piecing this together from the local news.

Project LeMans has got a story on this. Here's the Babelfish-version from German to English>>

Quote
Le Mans Series Monza: Fright in the evening hour Friday, 13 April 2007 With a due fright second free training ended to the Le the Mans Series on Friday in Monza. When routine refuelling the Alphand Corvette #73 the tank connecting piece tore off, the running out gasoline provided for an immediate fire ball, comparably with Hockenheim 85. Two mechanics had to be brought with burns in the hospital. The good message: They could induce themselves independently to the ambulance, the schutzanzuege and helmets are thanks! And that was not natural with God in view of the size of the fire. Otherwise there was a normal Friday, the teams got accustomed at cars and distance. In the first meeting surprisingly Stefan mosquito drove the fastest round: "that was not my third gezeitete round, I had anybody to overhaul." Also otherwise the Lola did not make problems. Without recognizable problems also the Peugeot unwound the meetings, in second training led Lamy up to the abort (the box lane the session was was not again started. by the two ambulances blocked) with one second projection/lead on Boullion in the Pescarolo 01. Who sees the Peugeot in the Ascari, it does not want to believe that it is on normal wheels roles, rails the more probable variant. With the LMP2 the ASM Lola dominated both trainings. Kruse engine haven cures far teething troubles at the vehicle out, yet the package works promisingly. The Cologners used second training around the two new pilots as much as possible rounds to make possible. Perfect car with Modena Racing, Garcia reached the Bestzeit in first training. Hydraulic problems there were with Oreca, Bouchut with Larbre was still not at all content with the car, it can the tires yet use, so the GT winner from Zhuhai. Marc dear was fastest in the first training of the GT2. Pleasing with it, team colleague the Xavier Pompidou hardly slower is, best prospects for the total winners of 2005. Brake problems troubled the Virgo Ferrari, then Fabrizio de Simone was the fastest man with GPC. There however generally good mood prevailed, finally the ACO the invitation for Le Mans yesterday confirmed, which will also accept the team. (GQ)

Thanks for that Paddy.  I have just checked in at DSC - some amazing pics on there as their photographer was next to the car at the time.  Seems that in typical LM type fashion, members of teams in adjoining pits all pitched in to help.  News awaited on the condition of the - in fact 3 - people injured wasn't yet available but one in particular sounds quite bad.

Thanks Paddy, don't you just love Babelfish.

Hopefully those injured are not seriously hurt.

Ditto all thoughts that those injured are ok.

I assume Stefan mosquito is Stefan Mücke  Undecided

Most dramatic pics on dsc.  Adequate illustration if any were needed, why the refuelling crews are kitted up for just such an incident, rare as it fortunately is.
