Who'da thunk it?
« on: August 21, 2006, 05:48:58 pm »
Yesterdays ALMS results from Road America
P1 Audi and Audi
P2 Porsche Spyder amd Porsche Spyder
GT1 Corvette and Corvette
GT2 White Lightning 911 and (huh?) BMW M3

Only real shock was (relatively) poor Aston performance and Ron beating Ollie for a change.

Looking at the numbers, however - there could be a bit of a shake-up, not so much at the Canadian race, but I think there's a chance that a P2 car could win the Petit Le Mans - here's hoping.

As a postscript, it looked like James Weaver figured the only way to beat the R10 in front of him was to shove it off the track, which he did quite effectively on lap 1 - he just didn't ram it quite hard enough....
If it\'s good and fast, it won\'t be cheap. If it\'s fast and cheap, it won\'t be good. If it\'s good and cheap, it won\'t be fast.

He had a bash in the pit lane too. :D

Good race I thought. I do love those Corvettes.
I've come to believe that Le Mans is the centre of the universe.

I thought it was well worth watching the race on the tube, with some great close finishes in all classes. There was a real battle going on between the two Audis and Weaver wasn't that far behind. In GT2, White Lightning only just made it first, great racing between them and the BMW!

I did like Weavers comments when asked about the pit lane incident 'There was some gamesmanship going on, he gave me a brake test, I failed it'

We sat in Canada Corner and saw more than our share of incidents.  By the end of the race, I think there was more gravel in the cars than in the traps.

Good racing, good weather, good friends and bad beer.  ;D
I stole DelBoy's lighter and lived to tell the tale.

Even if the outcome was mostly preditcable, a race at Road America is always worth watching for the circuit alone.  Jesus just look about for Bucks!  DaMatta's career probably ended with his collision with Bambi.
Bad beer? You can get Leiny's Red Lager dirt cheap up there!
