So then, it was the MAF sensor.
£70 and the car is transformed. Back to it's old self.
Apparantly, a common problem with the VW/Audi TDi series. So it's worth a go, especially at only £70.

sounds like its overboosting , poss charge temp to high,check intercooler for leaks, also they suffer from the crank sensor getting dirty, check !!!!!!!
