Does anyone know if the wireless iCard timing/scoring system is supported at Le Mans?

http://icardus.com/index.htm

I've been thinking of buying one and this would seal the deal.  Obviously, even if they had it (which in itself is a million-to-one shot), it would be of limited value due to signal strength vs. the sheer size of the place.

Thanks for humoring me and my stupid questions.  (Again).  Grin

I've contacted them about this. This is their reply:

Hello,

Thank you for your interest. We have had several inquiries over the past year or so, but as yet have not been able to secure an agreement with any European sanctionng bodies. It appears that the major issue is the fact that the GameBoy console is not as popular in Europe as it is here in the U.S. To address the issue, we are currently developing a "stand-alone" console that will not require the use of a GameBoy. That product should be ready in a few months, so we're hoping it will help us expand our market after that.

We are currently in discussions with a series there called "DTM". Have you ever heard of them? They are very interested, but are concerned about the GameBoy issue,as well. They seem to be encouraged by the development of our new product, however, so we are cautiously optimistic.

Thank you, again, for your support.

Sincerely,
C.Y. Smith

Thanks, Pieter!

I didn't even bother e-mailing them as people have told me they rarely respond.  I think they've undergone a change in ownership recently.

Anyway, it looks like I can put this purchase on the back burner.

[Edit] "Have you ever heard of DTM?"  Grin  Obviously he's a white collar guy - not a racing guy.

You can rent them on a couple of American tracks (full ALMS series are covered) as well. I will try that at Sebring for sure.
