I have never been at Le Mans for the scrutineering before but may be able to get out earlier in the week than usual this year.  Anyone know what goes on  -  is it worth a visit?  What else is going on Monday/Tuesday?

Fran,  Monday and Tuesday are scrutineering in the town square, where you can get up close to the cars and drivers posing for publicity shoots, weigh in etc. A good 2 days if you can make it. Nothing special happening in town in the evening, apart from like minded people able to make it early and enjoy themselves.  Dont think you will be disapointed.

Monday nothing happens. Except making camp and renewing old acquaintances and friends. And fill the pool...

Scrutineering is all day Tuesday. I've only been once, for 30 mins (which was 29 mins too much for me Smiley)  but it would be a great place to see cars and chat with drivers, if that's your bag.

Other than that, evening practice on Wed and Thursday. Also I think there have sometimes been practice/quallies for the support race at about 6pm, before the evening practice.

Wednesday night at half time there is an early CA meet at the Tertre Rouge bar.

Friday is the pit walk - been there, done that Smiley And the drivers parade - we went for the first time last year and it was a total blast - to be repeated!!!

Not really much else "formal" goes on before Saturday.

Now, at Sebring there is a huge paddock to see. And lots of support races, and their qualifiers. Pretty much racing all the time from Wed to Sat night!

Gary snuck his post in while I was still typing. I didn't realise scrutineering was Monday too!

Smokie u are going to have to start using more than two fingers for typing if u want to get in first!

We usually arrive in time to be set up n ready to rock for the second session on wednesday evening so i know what happens after that!

I suppose an upside to getting in on monday/tuesday is you have got half a chance of getting a shower! (if u like that sort of thing).

I guess that having missed it for my first 10 years i should have a looky this time - might be a cute driver in the lineup  Tongue .

We attended scrutineering last year on the Tuesday and enjoyed it; because of having credentials we could get into the area right in front where even a nebbich non-phototrapher like me could get some excellent views.  We also got to talk to team members and watch them unload the cars and take the team photos, which was entertaining.  (Particularly the BAM! team photo, with Peter Baron lining up the shot and then shouting, "All right everybody, say I'M A GAY PORN STAR!" before the photographer snapped it.)
