"Shrinking" Digital Photos

I took several photos at Pre Quals on my 6 Megapixel camera. Several actually came out quite good. Problem is, at 6 megadoodas they are just over 2Mb each.

Rather than go into each photo to change it's resolution/size/properties, does anyone know of a way of doing several at once.

I was hoping to post them up onto Rick's storage area but they might take a bit too long to download at that size.

Any ideas??

XNView is good but does not do batches.

www.xnview.com it is a free program about 4mb now.

I've got a couple of applications that will do it one by one, I just don't want to sit and go through 230 odd pictures individually

You could use dreamweaver  and create a web album. You can select what percentage you want and when completed you have a folder of thumnails and a folder of html pages (delete both) and a folder full of your new jpg's. There is probably other ways but thats what I would do.

There are a few programs which claim to do it. Most of the stuff on that site is "shareware" so may have limited functionality (but there are ways around that sometimes!). Often with this kind of product it will be that you can't "save", rather than an expiry, which is a bummer.

If you find a product but need some kind of activation for it, drop me a note with the product name and version (unless you already know the places to go, he said mysteriously...)

JPC - Rich did our website photo' the same as Stu recomends. DREAMWEAVER, the albums are really small, but by then clicking on it, the full monty shows up.

If you have a copy of Photoshop 5 or abouve, you can create a batch to do any operation you like including resizing.  It works like a tape recorder.  Just push reccord to and go through the steps.

Thanks Chris. I have Photoshop 7.........just don't know how to use it!!!!

The missus uses it for playing with the pics normally but when I mentioned something to do with pictures from Le Mans she didn't wnat to know for some reason.  

I'll have to try to work it out.

Robbo/Stu. As far as Dreamweaver is concerned, where can I obtain a copy at a reasonable price?   PM/Email me if you know

As Chris says you can use Paint Shop Pro. Look under File and click on Batch Conversion. Point to source folder and destination folder, select image type and click on options to select compression size. I havn't tried it so let me know how you get on.
