Hi all,
bad luck has hit the Kruse Motorsport Team from Cologne Sad Sad Sad. After a season which had anyway no highlights for them they lost their truck and the racecar in a fire on a german motorway. The team was on it's way back from test drives on the Eurospeedway when the trailer of the truck suddenly started to develop smoke and caught fire. A problem with one of the tyres of the trailer is assumed. The Kruse truckdriver has smoke poisoning, but not critical and no one else was hurt.

So a season to forget ended with a disaster. They will of course not be able to do the 2 final LMS rounds - and yes, they were planning to go to Brasil...

Bl**dy hell, Werner.  As Piglet says, do give all the lads our best.

You don't win Le Mans - you outlast it.

This is really a disaster. I'll pop around to their garage later in the afternoon.

This also crosses my travel plans to Silverstone. The idea was to go with them.

Very nasty stuff is fire, it doesn't leave much behind.  My sympathies for the Kruse team, I hope they are suitably insured.

I hope they are suitably insured.

I know insurance will not cover everything, and I'm sure I bet they wished they did not have to claim in the first place.

Send them our best, hope they get back on their feet wheels asap.

Jeeess that's nasty. It's amazing the damage that can happen just from a wheel rubbing. What a shame, but lets hope they can move on, start to get things sorted and perhaps make an early start for their preparations for 2008.

Definitely a horrible sight. Hope they are insured well.
On the positive side; they will have a new car for '08! Grin

Nothing has been officially published yet, but arson is quite unlikely. The smoke/fire at the trailer started while the truck was driving on the motorway, a blown tyre, overheated brake or so is more likely.

Kai Kruse wrote me an email yesterday saying that is is not a catastrophe to fall down - it's the standing up again that counts!

Can't Kruse borrow Lammers' Dome? That's just sitting in the yard not doing anything Lips Sealed
