Unless I've missed it I haven't seen an "after the Classic" thread...

It was a fab event, MB was full'ish but without being over crowded.  The Paddocks really were "access all areas" with a paddock pass and the grandstands seemed to work well.   The weather was cooler than the 24 which was nice although a little more sun and heat would have been nice at times.   Different couple manning the 'loos in the middle of MB - they charged for toilet roll this time!  Our fellow campers were very different to the 24, lots more couples and some very nice cars to look at.

We relocated the 'Poo bar meet to the DfH banking , it looked a bit sad without DfH filling the gap under the banking but it was nice to be able to meet and still see the cars.....over the weekend I remember meeting Pieter,  Barry and Jo, Termietermite, Steve Brown, Rick Cutler and I think my memory might have failed from that point on!!

All in all a great event although I wouldn't recommend anyone else to go in 2008, you'd hate it, nothing like the 24 at all so really, please don't bother  Wink

(PS - no banging sound systems playing at 4am either - bliss!  perhaps it's my age  Grin )

This film should be played at high volume, so don't come complaining about it! And who the hell is Steve?

Was indeed a great event. Just the right side of quiet. Cars were fantastic. Our faves were the Aston DP212 and the Renault A443, awesome.

Camsites were deadly silent by 2 am, bit too quiet for us, sorry about the fireworks on Karting Nord late on Sat night, but you just have to don't you!

Highlights were-
1 The chap drifting the Masser 300S around tetre rouge on Sunday morning on a damp track in grid 2, talented sod he was. Still don't know who it was but a star.
2. The paddock and grandstand access.
3. The girl in the oil covered Piper overalls and little else on Friday night GRRR! (car was lovely too)
3. Blagging our way into the Drivers Club after the race to watch prizegiving
4. The cooler weather
5. Saturday in the sun looking around all the wonderfull classics on display, dream garage will have to be re-organised! Again!!
6. Getting Henri to smile for a photo, a man of the people indeed!!!
7. Stalking Vanina Ickx Grin

Lowlights
1. missing the CA do (again!)
2. having to wait 2 years for the next one!
3. P***ing around trying to get a lift from Goodwood on Friday morning and missing Goodwood too, surely they don't have to be on the same weekend?
4. Still not sure about the new Village, missed the old Dunlop building and welcome Sad
5. The bloody tram works making getting to Carrefour a no no. Super U had to do.

Roll on 2008!!

Ps. Thanks for the tickets Mr. Brown, I still owe you some cold ones, I'll see you at Donnington

Ha! Did that during race week three weeks ago  ... see below! Grin

Have to say, having missed the 2004 Classic, it was sooooo good to be back.

Too many highlights to list  Grin

Lowlights? Can't remember any! .... Am I too easily pleased? LOL!

Sorry you forgot me.... but you got my glass

...Should have joined us we had a 2.30, 4.15 and 3.20 all am, and I am sure my voice carries a bit, and there was plenty of bullshit going on...

From me ... sorry I had loads of chat over the weekend and Doris and Pieter took the brunt of it... although they were not always in the best of order themselves... mind you we had a sh*t load o f laughs ... ask them about the 24hr joke... if they can remember...

Good to meet you again Barry & Jo... not that I have met Jo before...

Hey what the flick...

Had to be one of the Chambons or JJ Bailey.
Great weekend had by the three of us in spite of Paul losing the keys to the Moggie (still not found by the way so he is still here, with the Moggie parked in my local garage).
Highlight for me just had to be that grid full of GT40s, even if some of them were fakes - a great sight.  Lowlight - the idiot Adrian Newey - took him at least 3 goes to write the poor thing off.

What was supposed to be a trip round the circuit in an old bus, turned out to be a trip in an AC Aceca Bristol.  Cannot thank the guy enough who drove me round - a really good driver which was a great relief - very patient while I struggled into the 5-point harness!  Won't forget that in a hurry. Grin Grin Grin

Great to meet a few more of you.  Glad Dave Zarse is OK too!

Bugger - yes how could I forget you Martin?  I also forgot Mr and Mrs Volvo who had made it over from Canada via their trip of Europe.

Martin - not sure about the glass reference?  I don't recall stealing from you?  Did I?  Huh
