Le Mans - bl**dy cold in winter!

« on: November 23, 2005, 05:51:35 pm »

Just read the 'Read This First' message.  It seems to say 'no advertising' but as this is a Sell or Swap forum - I'm confused!
Huh

I'm a Le Mans nut since donkey's years and the boss and I moved to the Sarthe in 2004 to set up a B&B.  we opened this year (after Le Mans 24 2005, sadly, but I did have a full week at the race for the first time ever - I normally only manage race weekend!).

Can I say anything about our B&B in this forum, or not?  Lips Sealed

If so, here's our website:www.normandie-chambres.co.uk

Yes, I know we're not in Normandy, but we're just over the border and lots of Brits have heard of Normandy but not the Sarthe/Pays de la Loire!

Phil

PS We've got some nice, signed prints of the 24 Hrs and other motor racing scenes in the breakfast room!    Grin

Strictly this is a non-profiteering area of the forum, for members to unload spare tickets or buy the same at face value.

I'll let this one stand as there have been some requests on the past for advice on accommodation. However although a Forum Search will find this, it will eventually drop from the front pages. Repetitive ads will not, however, be allowed.

Having said that, welcome to CA and come back soon...

Many thanks for clarifying the position.  No probs - I won't post any more links.

Is it okay to reply to people who are looking for accommodation and post a message?

All the best

I know rules is rules etc Smokie.

Personally, I think Geordie's post is more than fair. It's the sort of thing that should be a "sticky topic" if you ask me. It's not profiteering in the same sense as the agencies, MRI, or some of the naked ticket theives we get on here from time to time. It seems to be from a true Le Mans enthusiast offering a bit of good quality B&B accomm at very reasonable prices and I certainly can't see the harm. It's really no different to Gilles and his bikes, chateau etc and which has never really been commented on. I think if it's providing a useful service and a good price it should be encouraged.

Agreed Andy, any profit that Geordie is making is a legitimate business profit and not a blatent rip off based on supply and demand that the agencies employ.

I agree with y'all but I suspect Grand Fromage would baulk a bit at hosting free advertising for other peoples businesses on a "sticky" basis!

Sorry, I didn't mean to stir anything up!

Anyway, I've stuck a link to Club Arnage on our website links page and I'll leave it there regardless, as I think what you've got going here is really useful for visitors to the 24hrs, especially those who haven't been before.  I wish you'd been around when I first headed to Le Mans - but that was before the Internet, of course!

I love the idea of making a profit, by the way - maybe in about 10 years I'll see some  Shocked!

Don't worry about stirring things up Geordie,we do plenty of it ourselves. Besides it gives Smokie something to do keeping us in order, stops him nipping off on holiday every week or so.

You're obviously not coming our way, then - had our first sprinkle of snow over the Le Mans area last night!

If we keep posting on this thread it will not need to be a sticky thread!!  Grin Grin

That's true Mr Rick... and I know just the man who may need some B&B, let you know Geordie lad.*

*in June that is, while others of us are reclining in HA luxury, trying to entice Fran and Doris into our beer cooler/pool...
