You mean like a Snooper Neo? They don't cover Europe do they? I just got rid of one of those in favour of Smartnav, with the new speed camera locator option. That doesn't cover Europe either though  Sad

1) They don't work in mainland Europe, do they ?  (Apart from
some that let you pay extra)

2) Would your average French plod be able to tell the difference
between the two kinds of devices ?

I have a dectector - snooper 815 and it says it has 'stealth technology' so the police can not detect it. But, this is a risk that you may or may not want to take. I won't be.

The fines are rather large for motoring offences and seem quite arbitory. Some one I know was fined for speeding  £500 on the spot!(though they WERE speeding!). The Police drove him to a cash point at the supermarket and he had to withdraw the money there and then  - £250 from his account and more annoyingly for his wife, £250 from hers! If he didn't pay he wasn't going home as they confiscated their passports!!

The risks are high and probably not worth taking, and £500 will buy alot of Biere!

All the best

Thanks All, I know they don't work in europe but -

1.  we want to use it as a speedo as ours is v. dodgy and the unit might look like a red rag to a gendarme.

2. we can calculate average speed through the toll sections

3. there are some hotspots that I know (nicked before) that the french use for lasers on the motorways near calais (surprise surprise) that i would like to programme in on the way down.

Cheers

Yea they do check with the toll both - i.e timed tickets and also laast year they had a wire running across the road and where doing people at least a mile away. No chance to reduce speed once you see them.

Lets face they want you money, no diffrent our lot.
