I know he's not a car, but the Dane (yep, i'm Dane as well) Tom Christensen now have 4-in-a-row. Sad to say that he will not win this year

The only two that I can recall are the previously mentioned Joest Porsche 956-117 and the Gulf-John Wyer Racing Ford GT-40 chassis 1075 that won back to back in 1968 & 69. '68 with Bianchi and Rodriguez doing the duties and Jacky Ickx and Jackie Oliver doing the work in 1969. As a bonus, what was so unusal about the 1968 race? John

Yep, was held in the Autumn. Another interesting item regarding the 1968-69 winner. All four winning drivers were active Grand Prix drivers, Ickx being one of the top three F1 drivers in the world at the time. Can't see the prima donnas today doing a full F1 and sportscar schedule...My God! How would one ever make to the yacht in Monaco. John

There was a time when Jim Clark showed up at Sebring to drive a Cortina in the supporting race for the twelve hours! Fricking imagine Herr Schu-watshisface doing a supporting anything. Back then a racer was a racer, not a celebrity. The old cliche about Sir Stirling was that if he a open weekend and there was a shopping cart race, he'd find a cart to have a go. These jerk-off's now, more in love with the lifestyle of being a racer than racing itself. Was so glad to see that joke of a rag F1 Magazine go belly-up. The piece of sh*t had a fashon and style section....Give me a f**k*ng break!

Also don't forget the Jaguar XJR-14, oops I mean Joest Porsche WSC that won in 1996 & 97 and this was a former WSC winning XJR-14 too!!!! What a chassis!
Loved those XJR-14s. Still have the article from Autospurt where the car was pictured for the first time - totally took my breath away, and what a sight to behold in the flesh too. Shame it never started the '91 race, even for a couple of hours. Good ol' Tom, pissed off that it got beaten to pole. .... Bless 'im!!

Fax Best news I've had all day! You should get this month's Motor Sport mag, a huge section on fifty years of the D Type Jag. It's glorious. Agree too with Rick re the XJR14 above, a simply stunning racing car. PS Rick. Any chance of sticking up a pic of each of these beauties??

Morning All, Andy, looking forward to the new Motor Sport. I usually pick one up from the newstand but they run a few weeks behind you guys. The June Le Mans issues are always nice ones. Agree completely about the XJR-14. When TWR brought one over in 1992 to campaign in the IMSA GTP series I had a chance to see it at the June round at Mid-Ohio. Absolutely fantastic! Davey Jones went out for final qualifying on Saturday afternoon in a light drizzle and set a new outright lap record, easily quicker than the CART Champ Cars. John
