Ladies and Gentlemen As I depart for a weeks rain infested break on the Norfolk Broads, may I take this opportunity to wish you a happy St George's day. See you in a week

Have a great trip I used to be a broads regular, until we were nearly sunk by that dodgy hurricane back in the eighties Took the roof right off our boat I have not been back since.

Are you sure it was a dodgy hurricane and not one of those freak helicopter downdraughts that have been responsible for so much gazebo devastation over the years at MB?

yeah i was dragged there ten years on the trot
still the broads above Potter Heigham where better than those around wroxham and horning, probably becaue the hulabalouers couldn't get through the bridge, acle was f'in bleak as was the trip to Yarmouth and across breydon water to beccles.
parents now live at Barton Turf - well they did last time i heard, traded an MX5 for a speed boat.

Hey I was one of them "hulabalouers" Mind you, that is a term I have not heard for a while. You didn't used to read about a certain group of young sailors when you were younger did you?

Like you, I too read them all and still have them, a bit battered and dog-eared, but there for the kids if I can twist their arms. Perhaps I should threaten to read them a chapter each night before bedtime. I've been trying to get my 11 year old nephew to read them You would not believe the language I got in reply Mind you, I'm not too sure how Titty would go down with the youth of today

Don't tell me! I spent my 'informative years' in Gt Yarmouth, and it was nearly always bleak. Only good bit was when the holiday talent arrived in the summer looking for someone to do them. DB
