Gilles - I have been looking at French property for a few months as I thought my job was going to fold up. Most houses here (in SE UK) are at least double the price and less than a quarter the size of your one, so it is very tempting.

Especially when we know how much the battling Brits are loved by the French... Wink

Gilles,
House prices in the UK have increeased dramatically in the past couple of years.  An average four bed house is likely to cost in excess of £225 000 these days.  So those who bought  many years ago, will make a lot of money on their houses, would be able to say retire down to France on the proceeds? eh Chris?

Owning a somewhat larger premisis myself, I have to guess at what the lower classes must do.  I was just commenting to Lady Liszt this morning how what a thorougly good idea it was to turf out the oiks in the estate cottages and sell them to city based IT consultants for the price of a small island

Should pay the death duties when one pops ones clogs

Four beds for £225000? Luxury. I've only got 3 and its worth more than that! Just a semi...

You've got 2 bedrooms on main floor, plus the office that you can turn to an another one..., an another bedroom on the upper level under the roof with its own bathroom,... and you can have a guest room underground (with a window) as you've got 3 rooms on this down level (one is the cellar or was used like this)

You see the lounge and the living room, youv've got an "arriere cuisine", a room besides the main kitchen, the main bathroom.

The living-room, the kitchen, the back-kitchen, the bathroom and the main bedroom are all opening to the terrace and you've got the sun almost all the day due to this orientation.

At the end of the garden, there's a closed park for dogs (or sheeps!!!) with an house. there's also a "jardin potager" that you can turn in a tennis court or a swimming pool (or maybe the both)

Of course tapestry and paintings need to be refresh but it's a livable house where you can sleep almost the day you buy it (if ever you plan to already have your bed in the back of your car or if you're able to sleep on the carpet)
