Did anybody buy the Welcome area tickets? They allow you to go into the little garden area benind the Dunlop hospitality building at the end of the pits, and then after 6pm saturday you can go up on top of the Dunlop hospitality building. Great for watching pit stops, and last year we watched the end of the race from there...

Unfortunately this year there was a little hitch. We bought our Welcome tickets (19 Euros a pop) hoping to watch the finish from up on the roof as last year, however they wouldn't let us up there a couple of hours before the end, saying it was press only... There were quite a lot of disgruntled people hanging around whose mood was not improved by the Security guard letting through a number of other 'security' staff that didn't seem to have the correct passes.

Anyway, for those of you who were disappointed by not being allowed to get up to the roof to see the end of the race, you can apply to the ACO for a refund. The staff in the ACO office were most appologetic and said they hadn't been told of the change. Here is the address to write to:
ACO
Circuit des 24 Heures
72019 LE MANS
Cedex 2

Still, we didn't let it spoil a perfect weekend, we watched the end of the race level with the chequered flag whilst risking life, limb, and some pretty unpleasant smells, standing on a big wheelie bin...
