Have stayed on Houx for past few years. Last year had a problem which we may have again this year. Will try to expain & hope someone can help.

Arrived on site last year and we were directed to an area on the outskirts of the site, only one major problem - NO POWER. The site staff pointed to our ticket and said this was correct. Further investigation we realised we had actually paid a reduced price which obviously meant we were not supposed to have power.
Negociations with site staff we managed to get moved with the help of more euros changing hands!

Looking at our tickets for this year it seems we may have the same problem. But may not be able to get moved again.

We have paid 68 euro per pitch at serie B rate.
Can anyone tell me if this is the standard price or a reduced rate? Have checked an old ticket for 2002 when we were on the main area of site and we paid more than that two years ago which makes me suspicious.

The dilema is do we go with mains powered fridges etc or have we now got to look at going prepared for the worse?
As we are catering for around 12 need to try to get it right (ish)!!

It is the same price as my ticket.

I was originally offerered BSJ with a waiting list for Houx but the ACO cameup with the goods .  I wonder if our little piece of France will have power but we don't need it.  There must be a master plan of the site somewhere which locates all the plots.

Does anybody know of this?

Weve been allocated a plot on bloc 15.

I believe 68 Euros is the ACO members price, as opposed to 75 Euros which is the non members price. This should not make any difference.

As far as I am aware they advertise Houx as having electric for all pitches, but they do state you may need a long cable. Exactly what their definition of long is heaven only knows!!

Not sure if this is going to help.  We are on block 54 but its serie A placement numbers 875 and 876.

We'd be well pi****d off if there was no electric, we are taking 15 miles of extension just in case.

Last year our numbers were about 45'ish and we had power.

The request for a site plan is a good call...can anyone help.

GILLES get up there and have a look s'il vous plait, then make sure you come around to our pitch on Thursday afternoon for some refreshments - you'd be made to feel more than welome as would anyone else.

Cheers

We're in Bloc 12 and I hope there's power!   I've got a fair chunk of extension lead as well so hopefully we'll be OK!!

TAKE A BLOODY LONG EXTENSION LEAD. you can get one from carrefor alternatavily complain to the gate staff.

That about tickets being reduced price is bollocks they are all the same that is why all the pitches are the same size.

Last year we turned up to stay on our usual pitch 666 and they had laid out the site different so we were right by Houx annexe and above a cesspit we could not pitch the tents. So I complained. No luck. So I complained in FRENCH. Wow what a diffence we had a pitch next to the electrics and a tap within hose distance. The same happened to the english next to us. I stepping in and did the French thing and heh presto they got a different pitch.

THE ACO leave spare pitches for these instances. They are labelled RESERVE.

Hope this helps.

I agree - it would be very useful to see an overall plan.
I know it's a big area to cover, but would make sense, particularly if pitches/blocks were 'x'd' out as they were sold. Might prevent some of the pre-race ticket hysteria.

We got Block 3 - does that mean we're near the gate or right in the back? How many 'blocks' are there on Houx anyway?
They definately do not all have electrical hook-up (but folks will help you out, if you have an extension cable and some pitches (particularly roadside ones) are often irregular in shape.

It's all a bit of a cluster-f**k really - never mind, it always seems to sort itself out in the end!

Hi Mark - don't worry, we'll blame you if we end up in the boonies!
(JPC kindly organized our Houx tickets after ACO f**ked us over).
Did anyone ever mention that you look just like Johnny Herbert? Not sure who that gangster next to you is though.....
