Any ideas about data SIM cards in France . Use Mobidata card in UK at the moment, which is good ,but there must be a cheap French card, Not interested in making phone calls or text messaging ,just data.

I've got a free add on with Vodafone that let's me take my bundle into Europe Ian. I think there's a small one off charge per day though.

It's Vodafone Euro Traveller. Currently only £2 per day and then you can use your phone as if in the UK  (use you tariff data, texts, etc)

Works well for me.

Our group are going to try one of these this year.....................................

http://www.tepwireless.com/wifi/europe

Whilst I am on Vodafone, there are a number of others in our group who are not - including a couple traveling over from the USA.

Unfortunately I cannot recommend this as I have not yet had the experience - but I will certainly post my findings after the event...............................

.................................Maybe even DURING the event if it works well Grin

Has anyone else had any experience of these??

I use a Huawei portable wifi system fitted with a Mobi data card when we are on the boat in the UK,works really well. At £4-95 a month for 2Gb, so just looking for a French data card to pop into the Huawei box

I was under the impression that with so many people on site getting a usable data connection was tricky, so would be keen to understand anyone's experiences surrounding this.

that seems expensive. If your using the unlimited it seems a better deal but still not cheap

Agreed - paid £85 for 8 days including kit hire, deliver and return all in. Unlimited.

Between 6 of us it is only 15 quid each for the week tho!

Something to do with bundling data. I think it's very technical.......

Just bought a 1gb data-only sim card via www.holidayphone.co.uk

The SIM is from SFR via Sweden - go figure....

Cost was £24.99

SIM will be used in a Mi-Fi device that will connect 5 devices at a time.

Once used the SIM is simply binned.
