I recall a panic pre-podium moment for the organizers of a GT race at Silverstone when a driver won whose nationality was listed as 'Mongolian'. Several tense minutes ensued with a fruitless search for the national flag of Mongolia. Sanity returned however when it was pointed out that the 'Mo' on the entry list was not Mongolia but Monaco... duh!
Given that a flag flown upside down, is essentially a distress signal, I presumed it was done on purpose to mark the passing of a fellow racer? I thought all of the winning flags had been flown that way....or is that too organised for the French to have managed?
