Roy Salvadori has passed away, just over a month since Carroll Shelby means that both '59 Aston Martin winning drivers have now left the track for the last time.

Ironic they should both go so close together.  Sad

Roy was never a Moss or a Fangio, but then he never pretended to be, he knew his limitations and worked to those limits. Anyone who wins Le Mans, especially in an Aston, is assured of their place in our sport's history.  RIP

Agreed, very ironic he and Carroll should pass away within weeks of each other.  Agreed also, that while he is never mentioned among the greats, he was a fine driver, and perhaps his understanding of his limits allowed him to live to a ripe old age, when a great many of his colleagues didn't.  He was part of a golden age of British drivers, Moss, Brooks, Hawthorn, Collins, etc.
RIP Roy
