Did Toby finish the K head ? I used to keep checking his site for ages for any sign of progress.

K series is progressing. All the A Series have now gone as of this weekend. The Booking has the Midget on it, just have to see how confident I'm feeling at the time :-)

Gary, I've booked with Speedchills this time so not sure where i will end up.

Bill - good to see you're coming back :-)

Any other spridgets in your group ? To my shame I may well be in a modern thing this year.

I quite like it. I absolutely love the way 4 manufacturers have taken 4 different roads for LMP1 Cheesy

If the ACO/FIA can keep the regs stable and attractive for a few years I can see it attracting loads more talent and money.

Lots of aero going on at the back
Huh
5  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Gareth Jones on Speed @Le Mans on: June 27, 2014, 12:34:28 pm
For those that haven't come across them before the gareth jones on speed podcasts are usually very good. In particular this year's 3 from Le Mans are excellent.  Gareth is an absolute "sound" nut and they are superbly recorded and mixed. Capture s the build up and atmosphere during the race perfectly.  Well worth listening too.

Available here http://www.garethjones.tv/indexgj.html or on iTunes.

I couldn't agree more :-)

I know we love to kick the ACO - and they always find a way of being that little bit more french than they need to, but the current regs - and the freedom it gives manufacturers is clearly working. When you see the hash that F1 is making of change with vested interests bickering etc it is heartening to see the ACO bring the teams along.

Circuit changes also seem to constantly be a cause of angst. The circuit has to evolve to stay safe and if it didn't then eventually it would have ceased to be viable for top flight motorsport and would have ended up a glorified GT race at best. The work up at Tetre Rouge over the last few years for example is excellent with much better viewing. Yes it was nice to pick your way through the trees in years gone by - but great viewing it wasn't. I spent 2 hours up around Dunlop/Tetre Rouge on sunday at Dawn and loved it. (I will be very sad if/when that row of trees on the outside as you exit TR and head onto mulsanne ever has to go. They're a constant in every single piece of footage you see)

I've made 10 (+1 Classic) since 2002 and would agree this was one of the best races yet (second only to 2008? when it was nip and tuck all the way to the final lap between audi + peugot)

Anyway - this is Dunlop bridge round to Tetre Rouge shortly after dawn on Sunday.

Had a good drive back on Sunday. Left the track a few mins after cheering the audis home. Was away from Blue Nord by 3.25 - barely had to queue to get off the site, then waved through all the junctions and was on the auto-route within a few minutes. Auto-route at 130kph all the way and max use of Liber-T dongle. No real hassle at rouen and followed their diversion signs which was all moving and quick.

At the tunnel we barely had chance to park and stretch our legs before beginning loading...then a few of us were diverted to be the last 4 cars on the previous train. We were moving seconds after parking up. Clear run through M20/M25/Dartford/A12.

Left at 3.25, Wlaked in the door in Suffolk @ 10.15 UK. 420Miles driven + Tunnel in under 8 hours.....All in my Midget :-D

Now have visions of a single solitary rain cloud following us all the way down as you keep checking the weather :-)
9  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: Why isn't it Thursday morning yet? on: June 11, 2014, 09:11:43 am
Wednesday is the day where traditionally Radio Le Mans goes on whilst I work from home. They do Midweek motorsport at lunch time live and cover the sessions etc.

Its also traditionally the day I do virtually no work ;-)
10  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Memory Map + Le Mans on: June 10, 2014, 09:53:11 am
Bit of niche interest but if you use Memory Map (or some other map/gps utils) then this is a "qct" file of Le Mans and around the circuit in French IGN 1:25K. Might be useful if you were wandering about away from the normal roads etc.

If you have the proper memory Map app then you need the "Import Maps" license to use. Works out of the box with "MMTracker" on android. I haven't tried with other apps. Its a 20Mb file so you might want to be careful downloading via mobile.

One of the few times I felt a forum needed a simple "like" button.
