1  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: TomTom Points of Interest on: June 13, 2011, 11:57:30 pm
I'm trying to make a version for Garmin users (I only have Garmin devices) which will include all the mapping info. I'll convert it to a generic version too that you can use on other devices or can easily convert further.

I have a little handheld Garmin (GPSmap 60CSx) for hiking with detailed maps of France (topographic maps) and I think it's handy to put all sorts of info on that map, like where bridges and tunnels are on the circuit. But also the shops, campsites, parking lots and viewing areas. To take full advantage of it, you'll need detailed maps, but the points will show up on your device regardless of the maps you have installed.

When I've finished it, I'll post it here. Meanwhile, sugestions are welcome.
2  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: Zytec LMP1 withdrawn - only 54 cars on the grid on: June 12, 2007, 10:24:53 pm
The owner was not amused with the ACO. It did pass scruteneering on test day, so if they finish repairs in time for the wednesday testing, they should be allowed to enter, I think.
I don't agree. The rules state that the car should pass scrutineering. It sounds reasonable enough to let them continue repairs to be on time for quali, but then you'd set the scrutineering deadline to wednesday. When you do that for one competitor, you get Audi with a little thingy they have to fix, then Percarolo...and then... No, it's very strict, but that's life...rules are there for everyone.

I can imagine that the owner/team is not very happy. This is wasting millions...all the effort for nothing.

I'm leaving on my own early wednesdaymorning for Beausejour with my tent. I brought the bicycle so I can go to the outer limits of the track during quali and race. I hope the weather will be ok...the various forecasts are contradicting each other. A little shower during the race is ok to shake things up a bit, but please no monsoon...

Cheers Mark. Is it ok to save the piccie for showing to family etc.
Sure.

6  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: The Official "I'm Outta Here" Thread... on: June 13, 2006, 10:48:57 pm
I'm off in a couple of hours from beautiful Holland to La Douce. Hope to arrive around 14:00 at BJ campsite. Just packed the ATB in the back so I can paddle around the track. I'll be stopping by at MB to take some pictures of the 'hardcore' LM fans, just to complete my coverage of LM. I'm a photographer so put on your best suit, you'll be famous... Wink

Wiki is actually the abbreviation of the German term "Wissenskiste" which means something like "knowledge box" when translated one to one.
Hmm...never heard that one before. I always believed it to mean:
Quote
A wiki, meaning "quick" or "informal" in Hawaiian, is a collaborative article that is updated with new and improved information submitted and published by the audience, not just by an author or authors.

Cybercafe 27, avenue du Général Leclerc.

Ta!
If I can't find anything on track, I'll use that.
Keep an eye on http://racepix.philippens.net for pictures.

Strange though that there is no paid WiFi access around the track. When I was at the Lausitzring in Germany for the A1GP there was WiFi access through T-Mobile (paid).
9  Club Arnage / 2007 and earlier / Re: The 2006 I HAVE UNWANTED TICKETS WHICH I WANT TO SELL thread on: June 09, 2006, 02:57:18 pm
I have possibly 1 general admission ticket left over. I'm staying at Beausejour from june 14th. If interested, PM me. I can then send you my mobile number. On june 14th, I can tell you if it's still available. No profit, just face value.

sold!
10  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Internet on circuit? on: June 09, 2006, 02:24:12 pm
Is there a chance to acces the internet around the track? I'm going to make lots of pictures and want to be able to beam them to my weblog asap. Is there some kind of WiFi connection possible? If I have to pay for acces it is no problem. When it's not available on the circuit itself, is there an internet café in Le Mans?

I have press access, but a WiFi connection for the weekend costs €120 and that is definetely too much for me. I'm not paid for my pictures; I make them for the racefans. So if there are race sites around looking for good pictures of the race: contact me.
11  Club Arnage / 2007 and earlier / Entrance ticket for sale (DISCOUNT) on: June 09, 2004, 12:11:09 am
Unfortunately, one of our 'teammembers' is not able to join us, so his ticket is for sale. It is a normal weekend access pass (General Enclosure/Énceinte Générale) but since I'm an ACO member it's for sale for €44 (normally €58).

Short notice....I'm leaving for France on Friday morning early, so call me on my mobile to arrange meet/pickup at the track: +31-6-11003388

[edit]I reported this ticket as sold, but it isn't...
12  Club Arnage / Help / Ticket checking on: June 03, 2004, 11:58:45 pm
I was wondering what the little check-tabs are for on the tickets. There are four little tabs with 'contrôle' on it. I know that this means 'check' but when are they taken off? Is there more than one checkpoint or do they take one off when you leave the track/circuit area?
13  Club Arnage / 2007 and earlier / Re:Tribune 21 (Jaguar) and General Entrance tickets available on: June 01, 2004, 07:37:50 am
I have 2 grandstand tickets available for Tribune 21 which used to be called the Jaguar Grandstand. Row B. Excellent viewing position. Plus 2 General Entrance tickets. All at cost price.
If you still have 'm, I'm interested. We're short of 2 tickets in our group. Cost price is €91 I believe. I'll check with the boys tonight and hopefully we can sort something out (if you still got 'm).

No longer interested...

Are the Maison Blanche tickets also for sale without the general admission tickets? I have general admission, so...

15  Club Arnage / Just To Say Hi / Re:Dutch newbies heading for Beausejour on: June 01, 2004, 07:25:13 am
Thanks!
We have 2 grandstand ticktes between the 4 of us...  Sad The free grandstand tickets for the ACO member-grandstand fell through) Half of the group is going to have to dig in at trackside. I plan to go early to the circuit, because I know how it can be like. A couple of years ago, I visited the Italian GP and if you arrive late, indeed you'll be looking at the back of people's heads...
