Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: Le Mans Grandstand Seating

I've been in quite a few - the pit straight is good though a bit underexciting (apart from the noise at the very start); some of them are open back stands so there could be wind/rain whipping through. This year it was pretty chilly at times and the ACO stand was good as it's a permanent fixture with toilets etc in the stand. Expensive though - Just Tickets price including enough ACO memberships to be able to buy the GE+T18 tickets, was £349 IIRC. The best view I've had was probably Dunlop (T5 or Goodyear as it's probably now known even though it's at the Dunlop bridge). Worst in terms of comfort was the old Maison Blanche (T23) which doesn't have backs to the seats so no snoozing

whatever any forecast says will probably change anyway. Just be prepared for rain, sun, wind, roasting days and freezing nights...

Usual spot in Houx with Drinking for Holland and welcoming Werner and team Le Mans Zone for the first time Also Andy S, Ewan plus the regulars Arriving Wednesday am into Dieppe from Newhaven and back out late Monday evening from Caen Roll on June Me & Mrs D are coming over on Newhaven-Dieppe on Wednesday overnight, back on Monday afternoon. Must remember not to sleep in on the boat this year. Last time, Mrs shook me awake saying we were in dock with the engines stopped... cue panicked run to the car deck apologetically waving to all the people blocked in behind our car ...

Hoverboards? I wonder what that icon between rollerblade and bicycle is... no jetpacks?
Ah yes, I forgot they were still a thing. Guess most of the people who used them are now on "thermal scooters"

Interesting to see they've tightened things up a little this year; no dogs, scooters or bikes in the circuit. I wonder what that icon between rollerblade and bicycle is... no jetpacks? https://www.24h-lemans.com/en/info/securityAlso interesting that even the chart which sets out what is and is not allowed, has the disclaimer that all of this is at the sole discretion of the security staff on duty... Also - "There will be several checks at the Gate: visual inspection of coats, jackets and bags, scanning with a metal detector, and body searches. To speed up the procedures, we ask you to open your bag ready for inspection, and then open your jacket. Also keep your ticket handy and present some form of ID."

Hmmm, I think this is kicking the can down the road so:
a) they don't need to issue refunds (yet) b) if and when the government says they can't hold more than x people in one place, the ACO will be able to blame them (and maybe they have insurance which will pay out?)

According to AutoSport, there's an announcement about spectator access coming on 30th June... https://www.autosport.com/wec/news/150037/new-condensed-fourday-2020-le-mans-timetablePractice will now begin at 10:00 on Thursday morning, the first of three sessions on the opening day. The opening 45-minute qualifying session in which all 62 cars will take part has been brought forward to 17:15. The 30-minute Hyperpole session fought out by the fastest six cars from each of the four WEC classes in first qualifying will now take place from 11:30 on Friday morning. This will be preceded by a final one-hour session of free practice. The raceday warm-up on Saturday morning has been set back to reflect the fact that the cars will be on track on Friday. Scrutineering (pictured below) will take place at the track on Wednesday rather than in the centre of Le Mans and the race will be begin at 14:30 on Saturday as previously announced. More details on spectator access will be announced on 30 June.
