These bikes are standard mountain bikes with engine kits fitted. They are 2 stroke 60cc. Starting is via bumping off. Once running they have a clutch so you can stop and still keep the engine ticking over. They can hit 30mph and will do over 100 mpg. I have been commuting to work on mine for the last few months, just to make sure it is reliable . They are not too noisy so dont attract too much attention. They just ride like a push bike, but without the hard work. LM is so spread out that we could not get about the way we like to without some sort of transport (other than the cars). We are hoping that these bikes will do the job this year.

Club Arnage / General Discussion / gopeds or bikes???...or ...the next best thing !!

We have taken gopeds for the last 5 years , and found them a great source of transport/fun....initaly the local police just smiled , but in 2004 we were stopped on Mulsanne at GUNPOINT !!. The "friendly policeman" then ripped out our HT leads...needless to say we had them fixed after they cops went away, and made it back to camp..the following years it has been a mix of smiles or "get off and push"..So this year we have decided to go for another option...push bikes with engines!!!....they are quicker than gopeds, easier to ride and if the plod take the huff, then we can just kill the motor and peddle them !! ..I have tried to attach an image of our bikes on this post but failed. Could someone pls advise how it is done ?? TY

Club Arnage / General Discussion / GIRLS on scooters ..what do you all think ??

For the last 5 years we have taken petrol scooters with us to LM..... They have enabled us to get round the circuit, into Arnage for shopping and Mulsanne, trips that would have taken us an age on foot. We have had great fun with them, every time we set out it has been a mini adventure, not knowing what might happen while we were out. Breakdowns have been the norm. various component vibrating loose and even falling off !! running out of gas and having to tow people back. The mud this year was a real challenge....We have always been considerate to other people at LM,avoiding riding them round the grandstand areas and to other road users, where possible using cycle paths and ALWAYS using lghts at night...... So i am a little concerned by some of the bad vibes I have got about them this year. I am aware that they can make a bit of a racket, but LM is not a quiet place. We had loads of people ask us where to got them from, even wanted to buy them from us there and then....others tried to pull the pull starts as we were pushing them thro the walkways behind the grandstands..we had some plank try to kick one of the boys off.......There was no consistancy with the local police some of them would smile and wave us past, but the cops on bikes stopped us and told us to "GET OFF AND WALK !! these are forbiden " ....So I would appriciate ANY and All comments...... cos one thing I dont want to do is piss off anyone or spoil their LM experience.
Andy.
