1  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: DFDS Pompey ferry problem on: April 21, 2014, 12:20:50 am
i swear i've never been on the same boat twice on the Western routes !

It's all to do with the fact that no-one really wants Newhaven > Dieppe, apart from DFDS who apparently have 'won' the route

long read here from a Forum i stumbled across from your post on PH re: the same subject...amazing what some people will talk about!
http://forums.bfenthusiasts.com/showthread.php?t=11357&page=17

and in the RetroRides tradition have a pic as recompense of my car lonely on one of said ferries...1 car, 1 deck

just got back this evening from LM via Belgium... Smiley so a bit late to the party...

scrutineering on the Monday was not a pleasant place for the 97 cars mechanics  Shocked

rolled off the transporter with the black cover on and down the lane towards scrutineering to jeers, boos, whistling, howls you name it , they got it.
the fans don't like covered up cars, the next AM got cheers  Cheesy

had a nice laugh at the guy responsible for 'looking after' the unveiling, after the car passed into scrutineering, he reappeared near to us to talk to a photographer, presumably from AM, and the response was along the lines..   'we're going to have to do a dummy unveiling later, apparently the scrutineers won't allow it through covered up'   Roll Eyes

be fun to see cars around the hairpin avoiding the trams!!
7  Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: ROUEN on: March 01, 2013, 11:59:14 pm
the diversion route from the A28 is as easy as crossing Mathilde, if not easier, no traffic lights just dual carriageway and straight out onto the A13 if rejoining the A28 south.
only downside is an extra toll for 1 jct on the A29/A151/A150 route or as said above and continue a bit further to Yvetot/Pont Brotonne crossing, nice cross country route for a change with the option of non-toll route to pick up the 'old' N138.

From Le Havre i've always done non toll roads*, crossing at Tancarville and doing Pont Audemer / Orbec and down

* edited, original looked a bit mis-leading Toll-wise Embarrassed

finally had to come home, at least stretched it out until the 21st  Smiley

surprisingly easier this year to get in with Blue Badge, no queuing & form filling at main entrance, flash it, scan the tickets & away you go.
so glad we did the paddocks & village Friday, seemed so much quieter than the saturday?

most of my pics were from the car parks, did the 'wally trolley' for a quick drive around, surprising what's parked in far flung areas.

most memorable moment for me considering the amount of metal about.....

also managed to catch up with a competitor acquaintance from his F3 days again

will have to try & meet up one year & put faces to names although with not staying at circuit may cause a few problems i suppose

certainly a few things to talk about, Toyota pretty impressive for a rushed first appearance with 2 cars let alone the one.

re Ant Davidsons incident, all the views i heard were the Ferrari should have seen him, backed out of it, wouldn't have cost him too much, yadda yadda, but if the onus is on the faster car to pass safely, if AD didn't see indicators or a move left then surely it wouldn't have cost him too much to roll out as well & leave a margin?
i'd have thought it's easier for the car coming from behind to judge the speed differential?

as for the Deltawing, i'll just say that the Toyota had passed him & should have known he wasn't about to come to a standstill?

i realise both cases are not black & white but all classes of cars are needed to make the race what it is.

and with that i'll say au revoir and pack the car ready for travelling to the Classic tomorrow morning passing all the lucky returnees on the M20 probably

shopping for the Beers and associated snacks tomorrow, hopefully raining all w/e so i can lounge about.
on the plus side with not going to the 24, countdown for departure towards the Classic is getting less & less, less than 90 hrs Smiley
