Anyone got a decent long-range forecast?
I'm certainly going to be there on Sunday, but if the forecast is somewhere close to half-decent then I might rock up on Saturday & camp overnight.
Paul aka Landman
From the Met Office Long Range Forecast: UK Outlook for Tuesday 4 Apr 2017 to Tuesday 18 Apr 2017: Early April looks likely to see high pressure remaining close to or over the UK for the most part. This will bring drier and somewhat warmer conditions than normal for the time of year. If this is the case it is likely that we will see a greater spread in temperatures from day to night, with the risk of overnight frosts continuing for some. However, there may be bouts of unsettled weather at times too, though these will probably be short-lived. Updated: 03:01 on Tue 21 Mar 2017 GMT

Hope to be there for at least two, possibly three days. Hope too for a few degrees warmer than last year.
Definitely not staying overnight. Warm bed in warm house 30 minutes away!

Very nice soundtrack, on par with the Aston??
Dear God Andy - don't compare it to that can of shite, pleasantly sounding though it may have been!! Del Making a comparison is quite valid. The Toyota appears to be at the stage that the Aston should have been at in January 2011. Toyota have done/are doing the job properly and professionally, Aston didn't.

Eg. some Sky channels tend to go "chunky" due to movement and being over compressed
I know the problem - I've been chunky due to (a lack of) movement and being over compressed for a number of years.....

Have a look at the blu ray version, IIRC it's nearly 4 hours of highlights instead of the DVD's hour.
Not so! The DVD is also four hours or so. The whole film is a vast improvement on previous years' offerings and well worth every penny you pay.

The last couple of years, the road between Mulsanne roundabout and the Porsche curves has been closed by les flics on the Friday.
Del
As Del says you certainly can no longer drive through, but it may be possible to take the short walk from Arnage to Indianapolis if you're really desperate to sit on your own.... Does anyone know at what time on Thursday afternoon the circuit is closed to the public? We're travelling down with a couple of Newbies and it would be good to show them the circuit.

Laast time I watched the film Le Mans at Le Mans I missed half of it due to slight alcohol use. If I wanna see it I'll watch it at home. I thought it was part of every serious fan's build-up to the race to watch the film in the weeks leading up to LM. I watched it a week ago played through a media projector and with the sound turned up. It's an annual ritual!

Bump, cos I was not going I did not check my card untill today and found it ran out on the 2/6/2011, so I have just been to http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Diol1/DoItOnline/DG_4018163 to renew it, no charge, just need your old card to pull the refrence from it. They say will send it within 7 working days. Now just need to confirm the travel insurance with Nationwide is sufficient and all sorted. Don't delay. I renewed mine a month ago and it took nearly two weeks.

Its worth a subscription for Martin Roebucks column alone. A great interview with Howden Ganley this month too.
Nigel Roebuck's column is pretty good, too!

Club Arnage / General Discussion / Re: fuel cost in France?

It seems that the situation is pretty much what it's been in France for many a long year now: Cheaper diesel, but more expensive petrol. The cheap diesel becomes somewhat marginal if you top up at a motorway service station (I'm always amazed at those who go straight to the filling station on the exit road from The Tunnel. Fuel is expensive there and you're within sight of Auchan at Coquelles where it's so much cheaper, even if it involves a bit of a detour to get there), so try and fill up at a hypermarket in Le Mans before returning and ditto at the ferry port if you run a diesel.
Bear in mind, too, that Monday 13th June is a Bank Holiday in France and supermarkets will be closed.
